2nd Pfizer Vaccine?

Hi. With the threat, by the EU, of the supply Pfizer vaccine being blocked, I'm worrying that I won't get my second jab. I had my first on 16th Jan. What will be the effects if this happens?

Are you waiting for 12 weeks for 2nd injection? If so I think is far too early to panic. Still got weeks to go so am doubtful it will be a problem. Also don’t forget what media produces is deliberately written to get us to read it. Ie shock value!! We don’t know full story OR what is happening behind the scenes.

Don’t panic. That’s exactly what the EU are hoping for because they messed up their vaccine process and want to hide it by trying to bully us. You are lucky, you had your first vaccine and plenty of time before the second.

I agree with both Bevvy and Littlepom, there is time to sort this out but never let it be said the EU don't know how to throw a curveball into the works when they can't have their own way. It is about bullying tactics as Littlepom has said and if it's not about the vaccines It will be about something else in the future you can be sure. I am sure the British Government will deal with this in time for your second vax, this is a major issue for this country especially as these vaccines have been contracted for and paid for up front.

This question was answered on the radio, early Saturday morning. The second vaccination is in the freezer, it was placed in there on your first vaccination, so no need to worry as you are covered.

After all the problems there have been in our country's Covid strategy - or lack of - I am confident they will make absolutely sure they do not mess up the vaccination programme. Hopefully after all this posturing has settled down, everyone will get the doses they need, both here and in the EU.

I tend to look at it from the opposite perspective. If you have had the 1st vaccine, you are in a better position than you were before you had it. Secondly, there are plenty of other vaccines to choose from, which will be given to others who will then become less contagious, and so on.

So, overall, the fact that we Pfizer recipients have not had the 2nd dose doesn’t alter the fact that there are plenty of recipients of other vaccines who will also be more resistant. In fact, this was the argument for diverting early second doses to enable more 1st doses to be given - although the individual effect is smaller, the collective effect is greater.

Whatever happens in the medium term, we are definitely better off for having at least one jab.

Hi. Thanks everyone. Concerns appear to have been resolved by Doddery and concerns are what they were - not panic.
