Thanks for that, interesting and relevant for me as from next Monday masks are mandatory in shops in Scotland. I have been practising at home and I’ve discovered I can’t use a Buff, too close to my face and feels suffocating and a cloth mask (£1 from the newsagent) was ok for breathing but probably useless as it only has one layer (but does have a very pretty polka dot design haha). I now have a box of the three ply blue disposable ones, easier to breathe in, metal squeezy bit on top but they gape at the sides. So, no easy answer really.
I’m going out very rarely, get main shopping delivered but I risk occasional forays to M&S for the treats and goodies so I need to know what works for me. My choice will be the three ply ones I think.
My health centre has asked all visiting patients to use a face covering, mask or scarf to help protect themselves and staff.
One of my asthmatic daughters has to wear a mask all day long .....mandatory , and on public transport too. She has the Elle ones and some she made herself. I got disposable 3ply surgical ones from the chemist.
One way of checking oxygen levels, I guess would be to use an oximeter.
I know when I used to DIY ...paint and sanding, not any more....I found wearing a dust mask difficult.
I used to do loads of building work Knitter and always without a mask, probably goes some way to explain the eventual diagnosis. Wood stripping using steel wool was the worst.
Mirror image, wish now I'd persevered wearing a mask , paying the price now.
Stay safe. X
Same here O2, renovating houses old houses, stripping out lead pipes & paint to protect the children & either old mortar or lathe and plaster from old houses from 1980 to 201 5 🙄. I did wear masks for this last one but rarely before. I often wonder why I'm not worse than I am, we must be wonder women!
We have a variety of masks including the Elle ones but haven’t used those yet. Our daughter bought us a cotton one which is lined but I don’t like it. I prefer my black mask that’s a single layer or the disposable ones. It’s a bit trial and error. Xxxxx
May I ask where you got your single layer mask from please sassy (I have tried so many and they all feel as though I'm suffocating) x
