I have managed bronchiectasis quite well since being diagnosed about 7 years ago. This winter has been difficult because so much dampness in the air.
I am going on a long haul flight soon and considering wearing a mask. Could anyone recommend a mask so to protect me as much as possible from the circulated air you get on a aircraft please?
Kind Regards
Louise

I use Nasal Guard cold and flu block along with a mask, I got mine from Amazon. You only need a little bit of gel to wipe round each nostril. Enjoy your holiday x
Yes, that really did make a difference to me and a friend of mine in the theatre once with a man with a bad cold sitting behind us. I offered the Nasal Guard to both my friends but only one used it with me. We didn't catch the cold - but the friend who didn't use it did.
I'm really not surprised at that. I have a very low immunity and travel around on public transport so have to be really careful I have been using this for a few years and haven't had a cold since starting it. I have had a couple of infections but nothing like a cold so have been thankful x
I would use it everyday whilst you are away, it will keep you protected. I use a little each time I go out and have a nasal wash for when i return . I have rheumatoid arthritis along with bronch so have to be very careful as my immune system in very low. Sounds like you are all set now and ready for the holiday x
For full protection you need one listed as FFP3 equivalent. That is what is used by the NHS. The blue ones we all had during the pandemic are thin and once moist with breath offer next to no protection. The design of the FFP3 masks allow them to sit away from your nose and mouth. This makes for easier breathing as well as the ability to stay drier for longer. I use them often as I have bronchiectasis, asthma and MBL which reduces my immunity. Enjoy your trip.
