Can you tell me what arrangements have been made for Chiropodist’s to treat their patients? I am now overdue to see my chiropodist and my nails are starting to be painful. Should I expect service as usual from my private chiropodist? Are there processes they should have in place to protect me from COVID? I am shielding.

Chiropody
You will need to take that up with your chiropodist. Checking if he/she is using full PPE as would be doctors and dentist and check what is required of you. Masks etc.
Here is link regarding Clinical Guidance for Podiatry during covid-19:
Hello MN, my local independent therapy centre has just re-opened & are taking clients for osteopathy & chiropody. They have a whole range of clinical measures in place in compliance with the government’s guidance to keep our team and patients safe and to manage the risk of COVID-19. PPE is worn by all therapists, a mask is given to each patient.
Hello, I saw my podiatrist last week for the first time since Covid 19. I had left a message on the answer phone to contact me when I could book an appointment. The Receptionist rang back and arranged an appointment the following day. The cost had risen from £25 to £35. I was asked to wear a mask and told that I couldn't wait in the usual waiting room so to arrive punctually. When I arrived I had to use hand gel before entering the surgery. My podiatrist was equipped with mask, gloves and coveralls. The seat had previously been disinfected and was now covered in a long sheet of disposeable paper. The podiatrist cleansed her hands with hand gel before commencing on the task of cutting my nails. I felt completely safe and at no time did I feel uncomfortable. Such relief afterwards as I had been restricted to wearing open toe sandals as my toenails had grown so long!
The Receptionist explained that as fewer people were able to be seen on a daily basis the cost had to be increased and passed on to the patient.
Hope this helps put your mind at rest.
😊
All practitioners will have to comply with their governing body's extra guidelines. If they don't they would render their insurance null and void.
They have to put in place stringent procedures to protect patients, staff and themselves.
The private practice (no podiatry, just chiropractors, acupuncturists, counsellors, nutritionist. ) I work for is asking patients to wear masks and will provide one if they haven't got one. 15 minutes are allowed between patients for cleaning absolutely everything will alcohol cleanser. There's a form for each patient to fill in and sign before treatment, there's no hanging around as waiting room and reception are closed. Don't podiatrists usually wear ppe anyway, gloves, plastic aprons, masks and practice a high standard of hygiene.....You could look up the association of chiropodist's or podiatry to check?
Hi. My chiropodist is now open for urgent cases.
He says he doesn't have to wear ppe but chooses to do so .
I also masked up.
Just to echo what has been said. Our Chiropodist has all the special requirements in place including plastic shields and partitioning and allows 15 minutes between clients to thoroughly sanitise and he wears full PPE and there was a screen between us and the practitioner. We also wore masks.
Can you call them My wifes started up again last week So hopefully you will be able to get an appointment Brian
Thank you Brian. I rang my chiropodist and I think he was pleased to have someone to talk to! Anyway he explained all the safeguards that he has in place and I have an appointment for mid July so that’s a relief. Thank you for your comment.
