Any thoughts on what the government will advise or mandate on the highly vulnerable?
Will they extend the 12 weeks for another period?
Instead of Durham Dom questions from the press they should be asking practical ones like this or how are the Isle of Wight track and trace trials going.

Unless you work & need the inbuilt sickness certificate provided by the shielding letter, does it matter what the govt says? We all know our vulnerabilities & can make our own decisions, with advice from drs if necessary. I’ve now been told by local consultant to shield until at least early August, but will play it by ear. Trouble with this virus is, we know so little about it & the situation is evolving constantly. Sadly, I see no end to shielding yet
I don’t think we will hear anything until we approach the 30th of June. I suppose they will see how much virus is still present in the community then. My understanding is, that at the minute, they are reviewing the groups. Some groups eg diabetics might be added in, while some others may be dropped out.
I agree about Durham Dom. It all seems to have got a bit hysterical. Seems as though he has gifted the people who wanted him out with an excuse to whip up a frenzy, when there are more far important things to discuss.
I’ve been asked to return back to work after 30th June. I hope by then i won’t be working with CVID patients. 🤞🤞I’m hoping things will be much safer then🤞🤞
Conversations with my daughter’s specialists suggest that they think shielding advice will exceed 12 weeks by quite some way, but not necessarily until there’s an effective treatment or vaccine, and it may also depend on what your specific vulnerability is. Certainly from a respiratory perspective, I think there’s conversations currently being had about whether or not advice could be modified/tailored depending on a person’s spirometry rather than a blanket ‘everyone with x’ has to shield. The ‘problem’ though, at least in our little corner of the world that deals with cf, is that there’s been so few cases within the patient group due to everyone immediately bunkering down, that we don’t actually know to what extent the condition exacerbates covid-19. In the UK, only 18 people with cf have contracted it, with one fatality. The age range has been 17 to 57, with fev1 being between 14 and 99%. In a patient with an fev1 of 99%, it’s likely that they’re not going to have much (if anything) in the way of day to day symptoms, inflammation, lung damage or chronic infection, and therefore there could be an argument that they essentially have ‘normal’ lungs in relation to covid.
Anyway, I digress (as usual 😆). The only thing I know for sure is that we’re both shielding in our own right under two different criteria, and even if the government came out on June 30th and said it’s fine, you can all go to the beach now, I definitely won’t be changing what we’re doing without direct access to unabridged evidence that neither of us have a higher chance of poor outcome than anyone else.
