You ever got the lyrics wrong????

As it’s VE Day and I work with the elderly...although not right now as shielding, but I keep getting the song ‘White Cliffs of Dover ‘ in my head. I play the piano so thought I’d try and find the music to learn only to find the lyrics I’ve been singing for the past 12 years are totally wrong:

So I have been singing ‘there’ll be bloomers over the White Cliffs of Dover’

Not these blue birds!!! I genuinely have thought it was about the ladies waving their bloomers for when their beau's have come home from war!!! Oh my goodness...I couldn’t stop laughing all day when I realised!!!

To top it off, nobody has ever corrected me in 12 years working with the elderly! 😂😂😂🤣🤣

I've just been reading your post again today. So funny!

It brought to mind a story about my daughter when she was aged 5. She was loudly singing along to Lord of the Dance.

'Dance, dance wherever you may be. I am the lord of the DANCING BEES'

I tried to correct her, but she wouldn't have it. 'No,' she said, 'You're not right. It IS dancing bees. Vanessa said so!' Vanessa, bless her, was my daughter's five year old friend. Well how could I possibly argue?!!
