I was diagnosed with serve copd and emphysema last year. I have so much pain in my left lung. I use up to 4 heat pads a day. Is this normal. Kind regards

Hi jellybe

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry you are having so much pain. I was also diagnosed with copd and I use a hot water bottle for the pain in my lungs. I have had this pain every day since last year.

I have had it 2 years. After my ct scan for something else and they told me I have server copd and emphysema I was blown away.

Have you had any follow up appointments? Can you take any painkillers? I was only diagnosed last year and Iam still trying to accept it. I also have a collapsed lung as well and I thought that was why I had lung pain.

Hi Lisa, my right lung collapsed also and I was given steroids and antibiotics. Do you receive the same?

No i just received antibiotics. It has been collapsed for nearly a year. I have just been told I have bronchiectasis on that lung. They said they would inflate the lung but Iam still waiting to hear.

Issy

Are you in uk or America?

Hi Lisa, if I was you I would ask for the steriods too. I am in the UK. The course is 6 small tablets to be taken all at once for 5 days. It helped me.

Good morning Jellybe. And welcome to this friendly and helpful group. Regards your pain from your lung. I would suggest seeing a doctor and telling them you want the pain investigated to find out what is causing it. You have put up with it for too long already in my opinion. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. Brian

Hi, Brian, they have put me carbocisteine 375mg. 3 tablets 3 times a day but I have started them yet. Have had this medication before?

You can only see if they help you. Just beware sometimes when taking 3 tablets 3 times a day. They can affect your stomach and have you going to the toilet more than normal. Take care and keep in touch with us all. Brian
