I was listed for a double lung transplant and last week received a call to say due to the risks associated with coronovirus I had to be removed all followup clinics cancelled very disappointing but totally understandable anybody else had this?

Does that mean all actual lung transplants are suspended?

I'm not sure I can only speak for my own

I believe that appointments are increasingly being cancelled for all kinds of things, not just because of the risks to patients, but because doctors must be freed up to deal with the growing influx of critically ill COVID-19 patients. It’s a war zone.

I am so sorry to hear this. The knock on effects of this horrible virus go on and on. As you say very understandable but get disappointing I am sure.

Hello Twinsmum10 . 👋

I am on a lung transplant group on Facebook and I have read many people say there are to be no more transplants, clinics or evaluations for now. Only those who absolutely must. Admittedly it is an American based group but there was one Brit who wrote in saying her clinic was suspended for now. So I am guessing you are not alone. My friend in the U.K. who is already on the list and has been for I think two years said her appointment was cancelled. They really want to minimise the risk to patients. So I suppose I am not surprised.

Take care,

Cas xx 🙋

Yes thankyou caspiana unfortunately I think I knew it was coming really and at the moment it's really not worth taking the risk I really wish they would get this covid under control soon it's very worrying for everyone

Stay safe xx

It is a risk. 😔 By the way, I don't think you have been removed, but rather on hold? xx 🦋🌿

Chris is still listed but his coordinator said that it’s likely that it will only be the super urgent transplants that will be carried out. He assumes the list will be officially on hold soon.

I'm on the QE Web Site, also Freemans, They have all the information at this Moment. Great Sites from Pre & Pro Transplant members. You only have to ask them, Join Their Site. Good Luck Hun. As Caspiana Says you will probably be on Hold at this Time. Good Luck Hun. xxx Stay Safe. C.

I doubt they will be back to where they were for many months to come. I was due for double lung assessment on 8th April..they assured me top of list on more solid ground , once the virus is more controlled, well who is to know when or if this will come our way..? Remaining hopeful. ..all we can all do. There was a big statement out in press on Transplants today..all 8 have been done since March usually 80 in UK ..so only extreme cases and I would agrue that those being listed are fairly extreme urgent..so guess we need to sit here and await updates. ..I doubt I would go through even listed now or until I am assured this monster is firmly closed down ..keep winning..bloody lousy call for everyone affected with lung disease.
