I recently ordered 6 x tins of full milk powder from Amazon,i will need them as a back up for when i can't get milk for my supplementary food due to my swallowing problem.not a vast amount as each tin makes approx 4 ltrs of milk and at a cost of £30 reasonably priced.
Amazon fulfilled the order and advised me by e,mail that my order had been dispatched and would be delivered tomorrow, whoopee i thought i have a back up now for at least a couple of weeks.
This evening i received an email saying my account had been refunded as the goods were lost in transit?
And hey ho i have just checked their site and the same product is on sale for £60
No doubt if i challenge then they will say that is was beyond their control and blame the supplier
Guess this is just the start of us all being ripped off due to the ensuing crisis.
Happy days xxx

I honestly think i will get nowhere with them Cassy and i will reserve my energy in researching more honest suppliers and fortunately i have one tin on order from Asda soon to be delivered if it isn't substituted for hard toffee lol xxx
Rummaging in my cupboards today I found a tin of Marvel dried milk...Yippee I thought, that will come in handy but on closer examination its use by date was oct 2015 so not so good :-(.I really must clear my cupboards out more often xx
Social services offered me one of those when they turned up 3 days after my hospital discharge knowing I had been unable to get up the stairs for all that time !! but they said I would have to take it upstairs to empty it anyway so probably not helplful to me !!They also could not help me get upstairs to bed as that would be a health and safety risk for them so off they went. After a call the next day a young guy from the same dept turned up,he had dreadlocks and a lovely smile. He asked if I had any pets and I told him I had two goldfish called Sly and Robbie and that surprised him I think, he said I was 'really cool' [he was a black bass player so he knew who they were] He said he was going to get me a stairlift and he did ,Bless him [and our mutual love of reggae] xx
That’s what I like to hear, someone who says they’re going to do something & then actually DOES it. A rare find these days. Terrible taste in music tho 😉
The are the same cans I use for my supplements. I am down to my last half tin. I cannot get them anywhere. I have sent an email to Morrison's online telling them of my plight. I normally have a can a week from them and have done for a year or more. Their records would show that as it comes up on my regular list as soon as I start shopping. I am hoping they will supply on medical grounds as I offered to send a letter from my dietitian. She tells me to add two spoons to the full cream milk when I make up my drinks. She said anything to get the calorie and protein count up.
On 2 occasions Asda have not fulfilled my online order for them.dried milk powder has become like gold dust due to normal healthy people stockpiling it in their nuclear bunkers.
Such is life and i will sort it but it is infuriating.maybe we should team up and buy a cow.
My Cousin Brenda's farm is about 400m from my house. I do not know about giving me a cow but I am sure she would drop off a churn of milk if I asked. Mind you she as got a few goats that may fit in the garden.
i have a dietician visiting next week if it isn't cancelled so brownie points to you my little star and i will pick her brains for a solution to my problem if she isn't moonlighting for Amazon lol
That is just disgusting on so many levels. I hope you'll be able to get your supplies of milk.
Earlier I was working my way through a 250g bag of Ostepops, the Norwegian equivalent of cheesy Wotsits but in a much more sensible size bag and wondering if there was any progress or development with your swallowing problem but I guess not ☹️
I haven't heard of that variety. This is big news! I will of course have to try them on my return to the UK though I think Wotsits will always be cheesy in my mind. 🧀
Change or add supermarkets as the situation changes peppar,i have now moved on to morrisons and managed to book a delivery on 01/04 of whatever may be left in their warehouses. x
Thanks got a slot at Morrisons for 7th April - I’m so so happy !!! Bought just enough cat food for a couple of months and an extra large bag of Dreamies !!!
I said I heard of them through a friend but they didn’t ask for your name or phone number which I thought a bit rude eh!!!
UHT long life milk could be a far more economical option at normal supermarket prices - things are not going to run out if people don't panic buy and really no need to buy overpriced products,
Personally I have both UHT and powdered milk in but I do find powdered milk goes off quickly once opened.
Just report the people who are overpricing, to amazon, ebay or whoever else, even tradings standards.
To pay extortionate amounts is not compulsory and there are other options.
Supermarkets deliver and their prices are within our means.
Amazon are not profiteering on overpriced goods, its some of the sellers who are doing that and if they are reported Amazon will take action against the seller.
Hi, i've just looked at ebay for NIDO milk powder, they have a 400mg for £4.99 +£2.90 postage or varying sizes up to 2.5kg for £25.39 + £10.05 postage from Germany. Hope this helps. Chris
Where was the milk coming from? Amazon have been clamping down on profiteering. You would be doing others a favour by complaining. Saying the goods have been lost maybe a loop hole in their regulations and the rise has gone unnoticed. Good luck, Amazon customer services are pretty good. Hope you are coping okay, thanks v much for all your useful advice and encouragement. All the best
I believe they are being imported and there may be genuine reasons for non delivery.i don't believe they fell under Amazons control to a certain degree and as you say it's a loophole in their system that they seem happy to exploit to keep getting their commision i imagine, thank you for your kind words.
Bloody scoundrels, I would report them to Amazon and stop this nonsense. I am all for private enterprise but not in times of crisis and not when it involves peoples health. I would do as ilovebunnies says an order from ebay, it seems like a good offer x
Irene e,bay are equally as bad so i think we are in this for the long haul as the movement and importation of goods will be squeezed by international restrictions. xx
Please don't fume Moy it's a wasted emotion and there are other more honest suppliers around.keep well and if Asda don't deliver i will set you upon them x
Curious.... Is the milk product sold from Amazon, or from another seller through Amazon? Off subject: This is crazy time... Some folks are hoarding food products, and we do NOT have a food shortage. Go figure....
A vast amount of Amazons stuff is sourced from independent retailers,in fact i don't believe Amazon actually produce anything themselves but as agents for their suppliers they should take some responsibility for their actions and if they delay the release of products to increase the price then they are guilty of collaboration if they continue to use those suppliers, but then again business is ruthless so i shouldn't be surprised.
I recently had an issue with a book seller that sells through them. They had charged me $119. Twice for the same book and the book they did send was the wrong book, Amazon stood behind my complaint and eventually even refunded the money themselves. But the book was sent by the seller.
I think it this climate of delayed cargo shipments the supplier would get away with it but probably they will price themselves out of the market which will serve them right for being greedy.
I have no idea if this is a good price and it says that the postage is £23 but that's because it wants to deliver to Norway 🙄 Hopefully that would be free delivery to you. 🐄
Order now and receive e.mail 1 day before delivery saying lost in transit, revisit site and see same product on sale for twice the price, been there, done it and seen the rip off HH but you are a lovey for taking the time to research for me,when you coming home? your sheep need you.
My plan is to start my return journey in ten days time but I don't know what's going to happen with travel by then and in some ways I think I'd be better off not traveling but my sheep do need me and I worry about them. If it wasn't for them I'd probably stay here until things have started to get better. 🐑
I'm afraid things are not going to get better for quite some time but at least you should be coming back to slightly less wild weather in your normal neck of the woods.
HH thank you for that very interesting link,i will check it out but i believe things are even more chaotic in France at the moment and transport links are increasingly challenged but well worth a look.
