As I understand it, it was one specific warehouse in Essex, where an impromptu sit-in happened in the cafeteria yesterday. About a third of the 3500 person workforce were involved. There were similar incidents at two other sites in solidarity, but there is no formal strike action at the moment.
I have hada driver was very rude demanding i open my backgate but they havd instructions to come around thf ftont and how to gey around to front. Had another driver as well not sure if its the same one he ws very rude almost swore at me. Do i told dont ypu every read your instruction he ssid now ehy if you did it tells you to come around ghe fron and how to getto the front as well as soon as i get back in ill be on the phone to amazon and report you which i did both occasions. They were foreign drivers who are the most rudest people there is. Told one of the drivers who dont bother reading the instruction told its about time youweng to boots and get an eye checkup.
I have had good and poor deliveries from various delivery companies not just Amazon. On the whole I have found them to be good delivery drivers, in what is actually not an easy job. They often have a HUGE delivery route (especially Amazon) and little time in between deliveries. I do have to say I take exception to your comment about “foreign drivers”. That is an uncalled for comment and it is wrong to discriminate between people.
I must second that Bevvy. My elderly Mum had a delivery only yesterday. She was number 88 out of 110 deliveries the driver had to make that day. English was obviously not his first language and it was late in the afternoon of what must have been a long day and yet he still took the time to offer and then carry, Mum’s quite heavy parcel in for her with cheerful politeness. I, too, have had many deliveries over the years and the only driver that stands out as being rude was a British guy and even he was clearly very stressed, so no offence was taken.
I also take exception to the “ foreign drivers” comment, I must say.
Hi, I work for Amazon and there is definitely no strikes planned at present from any site in the uk that I know off, We got offered 50p an hour rise and most of us are happy with that,There is a video going around from that one site who weren’t happy but despite what most read on the internet Amazon do not treat there staff like dirt and the staff most certainly do not work like robots (your lucky to get a hours work out of some of them 😃) The drivers are mostly self employed and not actually Amazon staff
