More empty shelves yesterday :( I have just found out why. Some idiot has put about a (false) story that tonic water prevents catching Covid-19.

Very sad that people get taken in by those sort of stories. I bet they don't even like the taste of it as well.

I guess its a measure of panic and desperation that people will cling on to anything.

I think it's awful the way people are playing a n others fears over this virus, they should be ashamed of themselves. Have a lovely weekend everyone and take care of yourselves 🤗 Bernadette xxxxx

Being skeptical I wonder if it not the tonic companies themselves? Far cheaper than an advertising campaign!

You could very well have a valid point, but it would be disastrous publicity for them if that was proved to be true

More madness!!! I’ve got some tonic water in for my gin but would never bulk buy or think it prevents anything. Sad really. People are so vulnerable and gullible. Xxxxx

The metro as just printed that cider apple vinegar does not give protection. Nor going back to medieval beliefs will a pocket full of flowers. I am beginning to doubt the sanity of this nation.

Moral Panic in action 2greys. The concept entails lack of IQ as well as the frenzy involved in totally irrational behaviour and immorality when plundering supermarket shelves. Imagine depriving others of their tonic water...

Ah if only... amazing how gullible certain people are. I’m shocked at how many people are in denial and think it’s the media hyping up a false story. Would you ever... and how selfish of them.

I listen to the BBC World Service a lot, a few day ago they had a question and answer session on with experts on Covid-19, a caller from an African nation rang in, because they were seeing on the web, people who were saying black people from Africa could not catch this virus!! The mind boggles, do we want an epidemic in Africa, with the problems some of those counties already have.

Ah-Ha! Thanks so much for posting that... I couldn't understand why all of a sudden it was all gone, even the really expensive stuff! My local sainsbury's hasn't had any for ages...

That's just stupid!

When we first had news from China, and the connection with wild food markets and possible link with those wonderful animals the Pangolin, I did wonder if it was some form of justice, as the Pangolin population has been illegally depleted, by being smuggled into China, where they believe the scales, when ground up are a good medicine. When you consider what mankind in general has done to the animal kingdom, total loss of certain species, considering our food needs ahead of their breeding and living space, I suppose our reduction in numbers is just part of the logic of nature. I think we sometimes forget we are not as omnipotent as we think.
