The Coffee Machine.

I've bought myself a coffee machine

I've been wanting one for years

I usually just prefer my tea

But I find that coffee cheers

Midge decided it's her friend

And couldn't admire it more

I forgot to put my mug in there

And it piddled on the floor

Good morning Mr.D and you notice I'm an early 🐿 today! I'd love a coffee machine but they can be pricey. I wonder if you totally splashed out on a super-dupa, all singing and dancing machine? Oh, and a witty rhyme taboot !!🐿💕

in reply to SquirrelsHolt

This is early, for you SH. 😉 I hope is doesn't mean you didn't sleep well. No I chose a basic model that just does one cup using pods, of which I have many, having over-clicked on the Amazon site. It works well, I just forgot to put my cup and the drip tray back after messing about with it.🙄

SquirrelsHolt profile image
SquirrelsHolt in reply to

Oh golly .... boys with new toys syndrome i suspect here! How.much did it all cost with say a months worth of pods? Can it do the frothy milk thingy ....you know it makes the "ssshhh, ssshhh" sound!🐿💕

in reply to SquirrelsHolt

Ah, you know me so well SH. The machine cost £35, Mr Amazon will tell you the price of NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto Coffee Pods, it depends which of 40 varieties you want.

Yes! I think you've made my mind up and it's time for me to let some moths out of my purse and give Amazon some ££'s.(the mere thought of making a purchase over £5.99 makes me sweat with fear 😫 and the anxiety levels are rising as i type, lol!). No i must overcome this and just DO IT.😁 ☕. I did laugh at the kitchen mishap you had only because i was imagining the water spurting out and Midge 🐶 enjoying every minute ! So as soon as I've ordered my Mr.D prompted coffee machine, you'll hear about it 📢🐿💕

in reply to SquirrelsHolt

Don't hold me to account if you don't get on with it. I merely told you about it, I didn't recommend it. Mind you I am enjoying messing with it and the coffee is good, but I suspect it isn't the cheapest way of making coffee. I'd better not tell you about my food chopper-upper which I also bought, else you might rush off buying one of those as well. (Brieftons QuickPush Food Chopper £18.49)😉

Ohhh I've got a smaller version of that chopper Don and it's brilliant, so easy to use and clean, saves all the hassle of either hand chopping or getting the electric thing out and plugged in.... I hate cleaning it so rarely use it. I'm going to check out your model and get one if its bigger . 😄

Silly chump. Xxxx

in reply to Katinka46

That was nothing compared with what followed. I thought the kitchen sink plug hole smelt a bit and needed a clean. So I unscrewed the screw holding the plate in place and removed some gunge from under it. Having done that I flushed lots of water down there thinking it would clear rest away, not realising that the screw also held the pipe under the sink tight against the sink. It was only when the water started rising up my ankles that I realised the water was going on the kitchen floor not out to the drain. Midge didn't warn me, she was splashing around in it thinking she was on the beach I think.

in reply to

🙄 my dad would do that but he doesn't have a Midge to paddle (or piddle).

in reply to

No, I am truly blessed. 🙂

I can just picture the scene!

Perhaps you could use the bicarbonate of soda/ white vinegar/ boiling water method.

It’s not as exciting as your way,but doesn’t require mopping up.

On a positive note, your kitchen floor will be extremely clean.

Thank you so much for the entertainment.

PS. Since I have been on immunosuppressants my tastes have changed,I don’t fancy coffee any more, hope you and Midge are ok.

Years ago I did that too but didnt get any warning till later.

Oops

now there is a bit of a smell occasionally but darent try that again

I mean if there is a screw visible it is asking to be investigated, isnt it?

Great aren't they. I got myself a basic George Clooney machine in 2017. It makes such a good 'crema', froth on the top you don't need the all singing all dancing paraphernalia, just heat milk in the microwave & hey presto, treat of my day.

Enjoy yours, I suppose you won't forget to put the cup underneath in future 😉

peege profile image
peege in reply to peege

PS if you have the same as me with the little pods did you know that the company recycle them. You just collect about 200 in their free bag and either take them to a 'boutique' or get them collected off your doorstep x

in reply to peege

I wondered what to do with those. Thank you.

Yeah, they really recycle all that aluminium in special plants.

Other brands can be recycled at your local recycling centre

My son bought me a whizzy one but I’ve gone back to instant. Tenement tastes they call it up here when you prefer cheap rubbish. That’s me!

Tenement tastes eh? That’s a very expressive term. 😂Well there’s still room in the cupboard under the stairs for mine. But I think it’s ease of use might save it, it is but a simple thing.😀

Don you made me laugh!

Maybe you should invest in the latest mop and bucket technology whatever that is instead of fancy coffee machines. I love my coffee and have been using a simple Italian coffee pot called a Bialetti for years. Had to upgrade to a stainless steel one when had an induction hob fitted. Also use a Lavazza milk frother. Together they make perfect cappuccino.

Happy coffee drinking (without mishaps)

Love

All this talk of coffee pots reminds me of something that happened about 50 years ago. My brother gave us one of those little pots you put on the stove - water in the bottom, coffee in the top and the water gets hot and bubbles up into the top - you know the ones I mean. Well we had never come across one before and were intrigued by it. We were pretty broke at the time but out we went and bought some coffee to go in it, set it up on the electric ring and waited with anticipation. It seemed to be taking a long time to brew so I lifted it up, only to find that the bottom had burnt out of it! In our eagerness to try it out, we had forgotten to put in the water. I never confessed to my brother. The coffee stayed in our cupboard for years because it had cost us so much I didn't have the heart to throw it out. Electric coffee makers are now the way to go. Enjoy it, Don. xx Moy

in reply to MoyB

😱 Strewth! No need to throw that coffee out now, just open the door i would think it would walk out after all that time. 🤣

My sister in law went to get a hot chocolate from a machine at bingo, forgot to put the mug in , and came back with a red face and a mug just a quarter full. So you are not on your own Don, sure you will remember next time.
