Hi the-db . Do you know the underlying cause of your dry mouth? They do sell gel for dry mouth that you apply in your mouth before bed. But frankly it's pretty yucky stuff. Are you drinking enough water throughout the day? I have Sjogren's so I suffer from it too. I drink just over two litres of water a day and that has helped considerably. Have you asked advice from your doctor?

Take care,

Cas xx 🙋

P.S. Please get advice as to how much water is right for you. Some people overdo it and end up with hyponatremia.

I have been told to sleep with tape over my mouth, a dry mouth could also mean dry lungs, apparently that’s why we feel we have been running around the block when we wake and also an achy chest, it’s possible to dry out our lungs as well as our mouths

Xyli-melts are great. Stick one on your gum and it keeps your mouth hydrated all night.

I get mine from mouthulcers.co.uk (xylimelts are nothing to do with mouthulcers by the way). They are explained on the website, and I use this website because if I buy two boxes the post and packing is free, so this is cheapest I have found. I use 1 each night and couldnt do without them now.

Start with addressing the possible cause: Inhalers can cause dry mouth amongst other side effects.

Make sure you rinse/gargle well after. Also clean your tongue and inside cheeks when you brush your teeth to prevent/minimise the build up of bacteria overnight.

Keep well hydrated and avoid alcohol & coffee late in the day - they act as diuretics.
