Yes, it's very good news. I think this research was posted earlier.

Not if you've got COPD unfortunately, that gets progressively worse even after quitting smoking.

Not true. My Lung function dramatically improved after stopping smoking and has definitely slowed down progression. Diagnosed 10yrs ago Severe COPD and going strong today. Exercise and a Positive attitude. COPD is Not terminal it is progressive. You determine how you manage that. Have to be Positive and STOP SMOKING. Sheila.

With all due respect I don't understand. You tell me my comment isn't true, and then agree with it.

??????? Everyones lungs deteriorate after the age of 27yrs old. Even without COPD. I am not agreeing with you I am saying stopping smoking slows the progression down .I am proof of this.

No problem I just try and help others who are worried .I remember first being diagnosed 10yrs ago and the information was scary. I then found this site and also met others on PR courses who had all this information re This disease and it was quite a relief. I also had a fantastic Consultant who was an expert in COPD, he guided me and here I am 10yrs later enjoying my life. I still am Severe but have learned to do everything at a little slower pace. Theres no rush and this way I dont get out of breath and able to carry on a normal life. I agree COPD is not curable but it is Treatable and can be managed , but giving up smoking is the most important thing for survival. Also a Positive attitude. Have a nice day. Sheila.
