Right,I went to the cab this morning.what a performanceš
You are not able to ring and request an appointment.you have to get there 30 - 45 minutes before they open at 9.so I got a taxi booked for 8.15,as I thought the 10 minute ride would be OK.
Got there at 8.38,and already there was 8 before me.by the time they open the doors, there was 20 of us.
You are given a form to fill in,then a time for your appointment...mine was 10.30š¢
I cannot go to town, and shop whilst waiting for my appointment,so had to sit there.
I was called in.showed her the paperwork, explained my predicament.and was told that if I have access to a computer,I can get help online to fill the appeal form inš
To which I said,I have no idea what to put in the appeal form.she did say that I could possibly get help to fill it in,but she would need to chat to her supervisor,as not sure if they have the time today, which she did,but her supervisor came back with,no time today.
I said to her not to worry,I will do it myself.
But I have no idea where to start.
So don't think I'm going to bother....
So fed up.

The first thing is to ask for a reconsideration at the same time ask for copy of case papers. Having the case papers will show what was said and to whom, this will give you the information you need to go for the next step, if needed which is the appeal stage.
It certainly is all very challenging and frustrating Fantasy but please don't give up. Is there a good friend or relative who could help you go through it all.
Try reading things through and taking your time. You never know you just might surprise yourself. Please give it a go if you possibly can, it could well be worth it.
I am so sorry you are having so much trouble. Not very helpful at all your CAB. You could try the Benifitandwork site they tell tou how to appeal and the words to use. Good luck x
Hi Fantasy, I'm so sorry. Never heard of this sort of response from CAB but suppose they must be overwhelmed with people having to do what you're doing and needing help because the whole process is so daunting.
Feel bad in case I pushed you. It obviously wasn't the best of days. Don't think they should treat people like this. . . . .
If I can help when you're doing it with your best beloved over the weekend, send me a pm. I'll be around.
This FB group called fightback they have all usfull paper's links.
Hi I emphasise as have had the same thing myself with my local cab. The trouble is lack of funding means they are often only open very part time and are too busy to spend more than a few minutes with you.
A few years ago I went coz I was being asked for full council tax even though I was on JSA at the time. The council wouldn't listen and threatened to send bailiffs. The CAB advisor just told me wearily as I had a little bit of savings to just pay it. I was disgusted.
My sister went with debt problems and she was just referred to a debt company who wanted to charge her for sorting it out. x
Our CAB is like that had all funds cut was a waste of space when I needed help see if you have a disability place near you contact your local council don't give up
Hi Fantasy. I can't give any good advice on this but I just wanted to say I'm sorry things are so complicated. I sincerely hope you and your hubby can get it sorted.
My father, a retired doctor, volunteers for the CAB. Rheumatoid arthritis has claimed much of his sight and mobility and now he has bowel cancer too yet he travels the 40 mile round trip 3 times a week by bus. He tries very hard to make a difference.
If it is any help, on the subject of going to appeal, he told me some time ago that he generally recommends it. I hope you feel you can go ahead with it x
Hello Fantasy, sorry things are being made so difficult for you , but try your best to appeal now you have got this far. Make sure you lay things on thick especially the negative side of your illness. ie if you can't walk due to pain, fatigue or breathing problems say you can't walk at all, don't make the mistake of saying I can walk this far distance is not the main object, how your walking is impaired is what counts. For instance a blind person can walk but gets mobility because they cannot see where they are going, no matter how far they can walk. Hope that makes you think of what impairs your walking for the appeal case, but you do need the paperwork of your decision and could ask for moire time as you don't have it yet. It will help you see why you were refused, could be as simple as wrong info put down. Best wishes to you and Hubby with the task xx
I do feel for you. I had they same problem with CAB. Even when I explained my oxygen canister only lasted 1 hour I still couldn't get a fixed appointment. So I like you gave up.
