The funeral was held last week,nearly five weeks after my husband had passed.It was absolutely wonderful ,I couldn't have asked for anything better,my husband would have been so proud.After the end of my brother in laws eulogy,when he said that my husband had gone from abject poverty to being presented to the Queen after a military career,everyone stood and applauded.One of my granddaughters made three montages of his life which were displayed at the wake.It was heartwarming to see so many people paying respects.I am now facing Christmas but going to my granddaughters which will help.Iam putting on a brave face but inside am heartbroken.I know things will get easier but it's still early days.Thankyou once again for all your good wishes and kind thoughts

My heart hurts for you, I like my husband a lot too. But sounds like you’ve got people who love you close by so don’t be too proud to use them, that’s one of the only good things I see about having kids- the Grandkids they’ve brought me. One foot in front of the other, one breathe at a time you’ll begin a new routine and lady go do something fun! Hang in there, keep smiling as much as you can. You are in my thoughts
Hi I totally resonate with how you are feeling at the moment my husband sadly died on 5/11 following a dramatic exacerbation of his condition which they now think was asbestosis so we now have to wait for tissue results to come back but he too had a wonderful funeral and would have been amazed at the turnout which is testimony to how much he was loved and respected and like you I have an amazing family but Xmas will be so difficult but we can’t hide from it and we will push through as they would want us too ❤️ My deepest sympathy to you and your family

Early days but don’t be afraid to show your grief I know kind people say it will get better but you have to have this time it’s all part of the grieving progress you will face lots of dates birthdays wedding anniversary s etc but remain strong and take them as they come such wonderful memories

So sorry for your loss Shangrila. Not a good time of year to happen, when everyone else is having such a good time. I lost my old mum this week, so I know how you feel. She is just one of five friends and family who have died in the last six weeks. Just try to get through Christmas, and then afterwards you can attempt to get your life together again.. look after yourself.

How lovely to have such a wonderful and lasting memory of your husband as you all said your goodbyes. You will need these memories to keep you going through the difficult times ahead. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time. I myself lost my Mother 29 yrs ago this Christmas. It does get easier over time, but you always remember your loved 1s. Let the tears flow if needed.
