Just to let everyone who replied to my post regarding my husband's bad breathless attack he will be discharged tomorrow the doctors said they are not sure what caused it ,i still think he had a massive panic attack ,they said it could have been a mucus plug i know he is nervous about coming home he has lorazepam and oramorph in low doses to take at first i was a bit concerned about him taking them but they said they are only small doses so hopefully things will settle down ,in the last month he has been admitted to hospital 4 times ,i do appreciate this community and the assurance i get from it especially when i'm feeling down and worried someone always cheers me up.

Just a suggestion the lorazepam. My consultant suggested cutting in half putting under your tongue and let it melt apparently gets into your system quicker if on 2 tablets a day cut up and spread evenly during the day, it worked for me several people gave me this idea and it works and also breathing exercises in through the nose out through mouth slowly seems to work. Also I find singing quietly to myself helps with panic and anxiety. Hope your hubby feels calmer soon

I take Lorazapam half a tablet before I go out. It works. A Paramedic suggested I suffer Health anxiety which causes a panic attack. I agree as i constantly think about my COPD and forget to breathe. Once I concentrate on my breathing in slowly through nose hold them out slowly through mouth this slows the heart rate down and panic attack over. I believe the Lorazapam works as I havwnt had an attack since taking it. It's only low dose so not going to be a problem and I don't take it every day only if I feel a little anxious. xxSheila.

It was our Breathe Easy Christmas Lunch Yesterday, Though after my starter, I couldn't eat any more, I wasn't feeling to good. I managed to get to the end, when all had gone, put my Oxygen On by the time we got to the car I was having a full Attack, Couldn't Breath which made me worse, Hubby as usual giving me instructions, Holding me, come on darling in through the nose ... it is SO Hard as you panic it gets worse and becomes very frightening. Sat in the car gasping , need an Ambulance, I did get that little bit of Air in, then half relaxed with my Oxygen on Full Blast, it is so so Frightening, this was my worst one so far. My Lung Capacity was only 19%, I haven't been feeling too good for a few weeks as most of you know. I see my Consultant on the 16th, it can't come quick enough. Hope your Hubby is feeling a bit Better Hun, and being Home should make him feel relaxed with the Correct Meds. xxxx
