Back to bed.

Continuing on with our winter moan

How glad we'll be when Christmas has flown

But hark there is still more to come

To make us even more feel glum

The clock strikes twelve and off they go

Pumped up with an anticipative glow

Another year has passed them by

Enough to make most people cry

But those asleep in their warm bed

Would rather just forget instead

The noise goes on until the dawn

And then bedroom curtains drawn

Reveal the white stuff on the ground

And at this point we turn around

Back to bed.

Brrr......that’s a chilly looking photo Don. I’m not a party fan anymore. Don’t have the energy. Thank you for that. Xxxx

Well you had me totally confused Master Po

I know it's cold but we don't have snow

Southport is famous for its receding tide

Now it appears you must remain inside

Worry not tomorrow's forecast is much better

But beware Friday when it's going to get wetter.

Puzzled Ski's and a cat that doesn't care :) x

I think this was the concert that was on BBC 4. ELO are awesome and just as amazing live 😎

Wow have you seen them live?? Am soooo envious 😂

HungryHufflepuff in reply to Whitechinchilla

No sorry I should have worded that differently, I’ve watched them live on tv, that’s all. I would love to see them live though not sure I’d cope with big crowds anymore. The biggest gig I went to was Alice Cooper and that was one amazing show 😎

You are forgiven 😂 I just felt insanely jealous there for a mo!

I too can’t deal with crowds anymore😩so thank goodness the tv caters for us!😉

Oh how I have always hated New Year’s Eve! I cannot see the point.

The only good thing about it is going out for a walk early the next morning and feeling like I have the world to myself.

Whitechinchilla profile image
Whitechinchilla in reply to HungryHufflepuff

Perhaps that’s because you do?😂😂😂😂

in reply to HungryHufflepuff

Oo yes lovely. I always offer to work on New Year’s Day to let the others get over their hangovers. One day is very much like another with the tourists.

I won't be partying either! The last two years I have opted out. Even more this year due to having to avoid chest infections. I'll spend it with my sister and a glass or two of malt whiskey! That snow would delight me once, now I find it deeply depressing!! X

Great thoughts Don- I'm such a home bird these days- the thought of going out at night appals me especially on New Years Eve, This December 31 should be one to remember and celebrate each year as we will have our fourth grandchild appear in the world!! That will be a better New Years Eve. xx

I trust that photo is not of your garden, or at least not recently? Quite a downfall. This year I have stayed in more than usual, just don't like the cold. If I don't get to the hairdressers soon I will be tripping over my hair!

Good poem Don, keep 'em coming! Love Iris x

Its lovely, perfectly untouched, before a bird decides to hop all over it!

I remember looking out of our window years ago and seeing a fresh fall of snow early in the mornng. Went to get my ipad and when I came back little grandson and his mum were having a snowball fight, my perfect shot was no more! Love Iris x

in reply to Lyd12

It’s so rare to get the opportunity of a shot like that in this area, even when other parts of the country have had heavy falls. Midge was just 3 then and left body prints rather than paw prints as she jumped around disappearing after each leap.

Lol. I now think of Christmas as something to get to the other side of. 2016 blue lights down to hospital with pneumonia and septicemia. 2017 bad chest infection spent most of the festive days in bed as GP wanted to put me in hospital if I did not improve. 2018 had antibiotics and steroids before Christmas and thought I would beat the Christmas curse. Sadly my Arthritis came into play and spent most days in bed unable to walk and on morphine. Sadly waiting for Christmas 2019 wondering if I will actually have a Christmas dinner this year.

Cap'n I am just loving the word 'anticipative' - well done. I also love that pic of your garden circa 2010 - can't spot any paw prints at the moment though ? x
