Hi Everyone

It's been a long time since posting was thinking of starting Carbocisteine again but I am still losing weight so went to urgent care yesterday had bloods done and chest xray done everything fine gp there said I need to request a scope to find out what is going on in my stomach as she thinks I may have an ulcer.

It says that not to take carbocisteine if you have gut problems or an ulcer is there anything else I can ask for.

Thank

My husband was changed from carbocisteine to Nacsys 600 mg while in hospital. One a day dissolved in water. They work for him and a lot easier to take.

Yes, they're designed to get moisture from elsewhere in the body directed to moisten the mucus in the lungs only, therefore making it looser and easier to expel.

If someone is coughing like mad whilst on carbo with nothing coming up I'd speak to an expert to ensure its the correct medication for them.

I've asthma and mild-ish bronchiectasis, occasionally when away from home and I've forgotten the right number of capsules I soon see the difference it makes and shows me that it works, at least for me. We're all different of course. Please x

Carbocisteine is the the only tablet I have taken for moving phlegm since my diagnosis in 2016. At the moment it's working fine and, at the moment, have no problems (touch wood)

Oh dear, so sorry to read you are having stomach problems. I stopped taking Carbocisteine recently whist taking antibiotics and steroids for a chest infection but I have completed the two courses now and I intend to resume taking the Carbocisteine to help clear my lungs.

I hope the hospital can help you soon, best wishes, Carnut

Hi, I’ve only been taking it for a month now. Can’t make up my mind if it’s helping or not. Am still coughing, but when I manage to spit out some phlegm it isn’t as thick. But am getting bad acid reflux again since I’ve been taking it. Will finish the course in a couple of weeks time and see how I am when I stop taking it.
