Hi all,Regarding when people went on Carbocisteine for the 1st,Did people get put on 2 tablets 2 times per day and then at the later time did it get increased to 2 tablets 3 times a day,My consultant has sent my doctors a letter saying start me on Carbocisteine 2 times a day but increase it to 3 times a day,My doctors are saying I have to be on them 2 tablets twice a day and it can be increased 🤷‍♂️ I’m reading it the dosage should be 2 tablets 3 times a day,Thanks

The correct dosage is most definately 750mg per day

Sorry should have said 750 mg three times daily. It is also beneficcial to take the third dose prior to bedtime

Mine is 2 x 3 times a day reducing to 2 x twice a day when condition improves.

When I (rarely) get an infection, I will up the dose again for the duration of.

I started off 2 tablets twice a day. I then after a couple of .o thsput higher dosage of 2 tablets 3 times daily.

Whatever works with you: I was on 2 tabs 3pd, for short time - but i was coughing all the time. So then 2 once a day in morning, then one, then none now until I get an increase in harder to shift mucous.

2 tabs 3 times daily with lung infection

Above was my prescription.

I take as required, not necessarily every day but that is just my requirements, of course there are times when daily dose is required and maximum dose with chest infection.

My husband started on 2 tablets 3 times a day then reduced to 2 tablets twice a day , as prescribed by his Gp .

As folk have said , depends on how your condition is.

But maybe give your doctor a phone just for clarification .

I take mine when required . Personally I dont believe in taking tablets unnecessary but this is only my opinion. I take one in the morning . Somedays I find my voice a bit croaky as mucus in my throat so I take 2 tablets twice a day. As I stated this is my opinion not the Doctors. It works for me but not for others maybe.x Sheila. 💕🥰

Hi.i was put on 2 ×3times a day for 2 weeks then reduced to 2×2 a day initially.

Ive been on a while now.i do increase to 2 x 3 times a day now,if struggling to get it up and its too thick.just until it thins and loosens it xx

Homer12, I 1st started on 1 4 times a day but gradually reduced to 1 twice a day. Might be worth checking with consultant on specialist gp

Maybe they think you don't need so much to start with as they know the level of your condition.

My mum is on 2 capsules of 375mg tablets 3 times a day (I can't remember if you was weened into them). (The instructions that come with them say that that is the usual dosage but if symptoms improve you can have go down to 4 capsules 4 times a day. But I think doing what the specialists say is probably the best bet to start with).

Hello Homer

I was diagnosed with Bronchiectasis after a period of hospitalization and was prescribed 2 carbocisteine tablets 375mg 3 times daily straight away.

I have been on this dosage since November 2017.

I take 1tab 2x a day..morning and night.

That is a reduced dose from 2 tabs 3x a day,

never heard of that. When i started o them I had to take to capsules 3 times a day - every 8 hours - for a while and then decrease to 2 twice daily
