High Sandy20. I too have only been with this group a month. I too was diagnosed with having COPD, at the same time as needed a pacemaker. Since having my pacemaker. My breathlessness has gone. But still waiting for re-assesment of COPD, now and treatment. I am sure you will get replies by tomorrow from this great group. Good luck and keep us informed. And ask away with questions BRIAN

Hi Sandy - Ive had copd for over 20 years (diagnosed at already mid-moderate stage 19 years ago). I use steroid inhaler/bronchodilator and an anti-histamine for asthma (I have asthma/copd overlap syndrome, a recent label, plus bronchiectasis) but support my health also with turmeric, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and take Vit D3, K2, B6 with other Bs, lutein (macular degeneration) and ubiquinal (CoQ10). I keep pretty well, certainly this year and attribute recovery from pneumonia x 2 last year both exercise and my diet and supplements. Worth investigating I'd say but important to tell your GP what you are taking.

Hallo and Welcome👍 I'm new here too but must say they are a super friendly lot. They will answer your questions when they can. I find it a great comfort when I just need to know someone is there as I'm not the best off duty sleeper. 💤

Welcome, I was diagnosed back in May.

I’d certainly be interested in which holistic things work!! I’m really just taking an immune booster and wasting healthy!

But also cultivating my spider plant!!! Been trying to find s mother in laws tongue, both these plants are high in producing oxygen 💖

May I ask what immune booster you use? Aloe Vera is also a good oxygen producing plant x

Can't advise on holistic medicine. I use Chinese herbs to help with the mucous. Just would like to welcome you to our community x

Can you list which herbs you are using for mucus?

I go to a Chinese medicine practitioner in my area and he mixes the relevant herbs, so I'm afraid I don't know which herbs he uses.

Ok - thanks. Are the herbs helping you?

Yes, they definitely help. Last year they cleared the huge amounts of mucous I was producing. Now I take only a maintenance dose.

Hi and welcome to the site. (Assume you are in the UK) Can I suggest that you ask your GP to be referred for a Pulmonary Rehabilitation course? These are run locally over a period of weeks and will give you lots of tips to help with breathing, infections, diet, weight and (importantly) exercise. The courses are free and invaluable.

Whilst I respect the holistic approach, it might be worth also discussing with your GP

1. Emergency medication - usually anti-biotics and steroids for immediate treatment of any infections.

2. Flu jabs - if I'm honest I try and get one at the end of September and then pay for a second jab around Christmas (They are most effective for around three months hence a "booster") my GP said it was probably unnecessary but wouldn't do any harm and, surrounded by grandkids over Christmas / New Year I know the risk increases.

Good luck and I hope all goes well for you
