Hi all , just joined and need advice.

Hello Fellow COPD sufferers I hope you're all managing your symptoms the best you can. I myself have just been discharged from hospital after a 7 weeks battle with flu and 2 different varieties of pneumonia. My problem now is that during the day I just use the ordinary nasal spec cannula directly plugged into the concentrator on 2 litres per minute but at night I have to wear a mask which helps clear any retained CO2 in my system. I have to physically unplug one tube from the concentrator and plug another one in for the mask machine. I only hope 1 of you kind souls would have information of a type of connectors available that can be used to plug 1 tubing into the concentrator with 2 tubes coming off it that can be switchable from one branch to the other side of the connector without having to swap over the tubing every morning and night.

Here's hoping , Ashmick

Welcome Ashmick, I hope you get a reply soon. You’ve certainly been through a lot and l hope things are improving for you now. Take care xxx

Thanks Sassy59 . Yes it certainly was touch and go for a while but I'm reconciled to the fact I just have to make the best of what's left. I hope you're not so bad yourself and wish you well for the future.

Hi Hidden . I am not sure what you are asking for is possible but I would think the people who may be able to help are your oxygen company. Tell them the problem and they may have a solution. Welcome to the forum.

Your oxygen supplier should be able to provide what you want

Thank you and mrsmummy for replying so promptly. I had a maintenance call from Bayswater yesterday and although the Engineer didn't have the necessary parts on his van he very kindly booked in the work to be carried out next week.

Hi there - I've the same issue. Started on 15 hours oxygen last month and was already on 8 hour BiPAPP (mask). I have to change the connector on the oxygen tubing from nasal cannula to connector to BiPAPP mask plus oxygen tube. It only takes a moment and I don't find it a problem really. I think that's the only way.

Also started on ambulatory oxygen this month. Am finding this more of a struggle. Can I use it in restaurants, etc.

If my reply is not clear, let me know, Ashmick.

Thanks for your reply but I really do have a problem swapping tubing over. Any movements I make just leave me shattered. I'm sorry I just don't know the restaurant answer, I guess you would need to ask when booking table.

Hi Bernadette I also use oxygen when out and about and have never had a problem, just go where ever you want or need to go and don't even think about it. I have never in all the years I have used it ever found anywhere I cannot go while using it. Enjoy your life xx

It's a confidence thing with me - hate people looking at me (I know -I'm probably imagining most of it!) Can do shopping but not taken into a restaurant yet. Love eating out so will have to get braver!

Sorry Ashmick if my response seemed a bit blase (accent on the e). Oxygen supplier will have a solution, I'm sure. I'm with Baywater and they're excellent. Good luck.

Nothing's wrong with your response . I hope you soon pluck up the courage to go out and enjoy all things that bring you happiness . We all deserve a little at least , don't you think ?

Yes you can use oxygen anywhere providing it’s not near naked flames or people smoking

Welcome Asmick, hope you feel a little better now you are home after such a long ordeal. Can't help with the oxygen question but I am sure the supplier might have an answer worth a try anyway. Take care and stay warm.

in reply tokatieoxo60

Thanks for your kind message and I have a maintenance call later this week so I hope that's where I'll find my solution.
