Morning Mr.D....a terrific rhyme about something we all hate but cannot do without. Blinking wheelie bins. Every council seems to vary in the number of bins, boxes, colour codes etc etc. Its still something that drives me mad, especially when the stupid, small green box we are given to fill with all our plastics, tins and glass bottles. The box is only emptied once a fortnight which means if its windy, all the plastic items blow around in our front garden area..... Such a pleasant thing to see from my bedroom window!!
Sorry Mr.D. but I'm having a day of "moaning, groaning and picking fault with life in general"!!
Excellent!! What a terrific start to my morning....Mr.D. & Ski's and Scruff's rhymes....I'm being spoilt and it's not even my birthday 🎂,lol!
We have large 2x large bins...green for household waste but not food,....black bin with blue top for all paper and cardboard etc and then if you pay extra you get a 3rd bin with green top,but larger than household one and this is solely for garden waste. Then there is the horrid small brown caddy for all food waste, plus as already stated ,the useless shoe box sized green box for all plastics, tin cans and glass bottles.......😠😡😤!!! ,( I will be testing you.on all of this later!) PLUS,none of our.bins are collected weekly,it's done on a forty basis!
Happy non birthday Squirrells, yes the whole system varies from council to council, our general waste is collected fortnightly yet garden waste weekly and at no extra cost which doesn't make sense, except of course if you are a Squirrel in which case your garden is always nice and tidy enough to dig some more holes in. xx
P.s we have no food waste cos we are poor oop north and eat everything bones and all.
Good one skis, cant believe yours are different to mine, your only up the road. Our big green bin is for all garden and food waste and is emptied every week. The brown is for all glass/tins/plastic bottles. The blue is for paper/cardboard and the grey is for all non recyclable waste x
I have one bin. Until now I felt hard done by, but now I'm kind of glad we don't have more because I'm confused just reading about your bins! The bin is for general rubbish, that gets collected, then there's paper and cans recycling that I have to take the stuff to.
Who knew we could have a whole conversation about rubbish and bins. 🤔
Ha! We are just doing the recycling for the council, although it is easy and cuts down waste, so I dont mind. Hey, whole conversations about rubbish, how lucky are we ha! x
Think our bin men are stupid, they empty all the bins that are only half full or less into other bins, they say it saves time, I say it makes a mess in the road, which they dont clean up, and I keep my bins clean so object to all the dirty bins being emptied into mine.I also have to chase them for the compostable bags, even though I leave the request on the bin handle. Rant over. If I was clever with rhymes like you Don and skis i would put this to verse x
Would you like to insert an 'h' into the seventh line Cap'n to make it 'where' and perhaps change the 'it's' to its and possibly in the seventh line again change to 'putting' rather than put - I am too tired to proofread Sirski's contribution (I doubt it requires it) and have only had time to skim the other offerings but tomorrow is another day ....... bed beckons ...... sweet dreams to all .....
Lovely to see you back at work as my valued proofreader, Margaret, but don’t overtire yourself. My lack of interest in apostrophes and wear, were and where’s does tend to stand out and I will go back and fix them, thank you. But words I am more careful with and changing ‘put’ for ‘putting’ introduces a further syllable which IMO spoils the rhythm. So I’m afraid you will have to put that down to poetic license. 😘 Skis will be pleased to read your comment on his excellent offering.😉
Sirski's,entirely uneducated and possessing(gosh that's a lot of Esses) not even an eleven plus certificate would require an entire rewrite from you my love, xx
I was thinking 'putting where it shouldn't be' Cap'n and omitting the first 'it' or even 'put where it shouldn't be' would not have interfered with the flow but you are the boss and the poet with a license to thrill !!!
I have just found out that all brown paper, including envelopes, should go in the recycling bin, not with the waste paper. We have grey bin fr recycling, brown bin garden waste and purple bin general rubbish. Food waste collected weekly, along with purple one week, grey and brown the next.
Now I am totally confused Lyd12 . . . . I spend so much time washing all the recyclable stuff - it seems to take forever! Does anyone else have to pay to have their gardening refuse taken away?
I wash absolutely everything (dumb I know) I used to crush tin cans too but then managed to obtain a second box - also had a tendency to fall off it lol! The can crusher that is not the box!
