my carer changed the leg bag this morning then left,,,,,,
the whole batch are faulty, the taps on the leg bags are faulty, and dont turn off, they look as though their off but their most certainly not. i wondered where all the water was coming from,to make things worse i had visitors,i felt my trousers, absolutely soaking ,very embarrassing,, changed to a new bag with the help of one of my visitors, [i cant bend with a fused spine] water all over the laminated floor in the kitchen, hall, living room, then washed changed to second pair of trousers and pants soaked again before i realized what it was, now cleaned up, clean trousers ,pants shower again with help, then had to put the night bag on,, i feel like i have a ball and chain on my leg now., absolutely done in now, i have been trying to clean the place up,[i live alone] , hopeless, .place smells of dettol,
the embarrassment was terrible, it makes you feel horrible when you get a little older,,,
i had the prostrate op, its not that, its to do with my spine,,,, i have advanced ank spond. effecting the nerves anyway taking my frustration out here,,,,,,,going for a rest now and take my meds
no doubt i will be ok shortly,, when im hung out to dry ah well a wee tiny smile at least [forced ],,,,jimmy

Aw Jimmy I do feel for you. All appliances can have defects, so best get on to the supplier first thing on Monday to get that sorted out. In the meantime, I'm sure your visitors understood. These things do happen, and always at the most inconvenient time! Take care x
Jimmy I'm guessing you get your bags via the district nurse, so give them a ring Monday morning.
I know the night bags are pretty low on the leg but its better than having a leaking one.
Most people understand, we all have to get old Jimmy, so please try not to worry what others may think, cause most probably there not thinking that at all.
Jimmy. I feel so sorry for you, you must be exhausted, it's hard enough not being able to breathe without having all your other problems. Please try and stay motivated, and come and moan to us whenever you want we will always listen.
My husband got really hardened to embarrassment - I told him "You're the one who's having to put up with the hassle - don't be apologising for your own discomfort". Those bags can be a real nuisance Jimmy - you've got a bad batch!
To hell with what others may think (they don't really ya know) just get it put right. BTW my husband used to fart every time he moved on account of the drugs - son's girlfriend had two little boys and it was a killer to see them trying not to laugh!!!! The old world still keeps turning lad - don't worry about it.
Jimini crackers Jimmy what a day for you,I bet you were it is embarrassing,I really feel for you.But it cant be helped tis annoying though.Sounds like you have good friends there Jimmy.I hope you and your ball and chain have a more restful evening, keep taking the tablets lol.Its a funny old life to be sure. Janexx
Jimmy I like all your other friends on here feel so sorry that you have had this happen to you....but I am sure you felt worse about it then your friends did, I am sure they were only too happy to be able to help you in some way
and it was after all only urine, it could have been something worse !!
How would you have felt in their shoes? I am sure you would only have wanted to help whoever was having this problem
I hope you get your night bag sorted out soon
Take care dear friend, I hope things feel a little better to you in the morning
Awe jimmy sweetheart what a horrible thing to happen for you. Dragonmum is right though hun - it's you who had the discomfort - they can look after themselves and probably felt bad for you - they sound like caring friends.
Hope they get it sorted out for you soon jimmy. You know we are all here for you.
Hi Jimmy, Sohara is right. Your guests would have understood. Just put yourself in their place and you'll know what I mean and forget all about it. They will have. You were tired out too, which would have made you feel worse. Everyone's had an embarrassing incident at some time, ill or not, some can laugh it off and other's let it upset them.
It's not about what happened - but how it made you feel. But, your guests wouldn't have given it a second thought.
Blimey, Jimmy, have you got your share of problems. My best mate had 'ank spond' and I know how much it brought him down. Next time that I'm feeling sorry for myself I will think of you and stop complaining !
Hope thing start looking up for you in the very near future, keep your chin up, Brian.
You really had one of those days yesterday and already it's beginning to fade into the background where it belongs! Hope everyone was able to convince you that your friends were more than glad to help even if it doesn't mean you were any less embarrassed. You take care. You have enough to worry about. Ank Spond is so nasty. Sara xxxx
Hi Jimmy, hope you feel better today. everyone's right - your friends wanted to help and you would have too in their place. Hope you get the batch replaced tomorrow, and maybe ask the carer or whoever to check and not to leave until s/he is sure the bag is working properly. After what you've been through, and all the rest you have to deal with, a "wee tiny smile" even if it was forced last night is amazingly positive. Very best to you, jean
Hope you are feeling better about everything now Jimmy. What a horrible thing to happen. The embarrassment just adds to the problems. God bless you and wishing you well. Lots of love. xxxxxx
Well Jimmy, you really had a day and a half there, Yes you must have felt so terribly embarrassed ,but I am quite sure your friends understood, A lot of extra work that you could have well done without, Hope the new batch will be ok, must have been just that batch , as they are usually pretty relaint, Hope you have taken your meds and having a good rest, you need it. You take care, xx
hi all many thanks for your concern, it certainly was "one of those days" i was not looking for sympathy, just venting my frustration lol anyway looking at the good side, my kitchen floor is shining like a new pin, all the carpets washed and hoovered, with the help of my friends. and last night i did a washing,, 2 pairs slippers , socks, underwear, trousers, the lot etc, ,, i have just put them out to dry now,, the slippers look new now , so were getting there now, [i think mainly it was the embarrassment] i shall phone the chemist who delivered them and explain, seemingly this was a new batch [the nurse left a few during the week, to keep me going] but you get the feeling their buying cheap muck!! as the directions on these are foreign , and there,s me,,,,, lucky to be talking english
but i must admit to not having a very great night, wheazing this morning, but ok now,,,,, just very tired and done in,,, so its a wee rest for me now after i get a bite to eat,, every thing ok,,, shall pop on later,, many thanks for all your posts and concerns, lovely people, all of you,, kindest regards indeed,, a dry jimmy xxxx
Oh Jimmy between you and Jayne your not having the best of weekends. I also have lower back problems with I have pain injections of steroids these are done in hospital under live x-ray they are good but due to money we can't get them every three months when we need them but you know I think anyone with a lung condition copes better with all manor of illnesses I hope you enjoy what we have left of this weekend.x
hi onadmision, i must admit to having sympathy with anyone with back probs,as it can def. drag you down. i had these steroid injections some time ago, but i think it was too late for that as it didnt help, but in my underlying condition [advanced ankylosing spondulitis] i had been prescribed an anti-tnf injection called "humira" this helped me greatly, but lowers the immune system, so the prescription has been stopped
"pending the results of the chest doctor" i havent had the injection for about 2 months,,, my back and joints are agony now, even oramorph, diheydrocodeine are not shifting it, or very slightly at most.
yes i feel do for jane as well, but as you say, were a tough lot , theres no other way really, thanks for the kind wishes,,jimmy xx
Hi Jimmy I was tested for ankylosing spondulitis it came back border line but like you say the pain can drag you down so for me its going to the pool and coming on hear daily I also use a Chinese plaster heat patch on my back one night I put it on and hadn't pressed the edges down it got stuck to the mattress I get up to go to the loo and nearly end up taking the mattress with me but at 2 in the morning its not funny take care Jimmy x
hi onadmission, yes it sounds a bit like a younger me lol but your doing the right thing, swimming is the best thing going, i used to go for a splash about, but unable now. if i were you i would wait a while and get tested again as sometimes it can be hard to detect in early stages, but if caught in the early stages, just like copd, there,s much they can do nowadays. i think i know these big plaster heat patches, they stick like super glue lol
i can just imagine the mattress going with you, to the loo all the very best my friend,, regards,,,jimmy xx
Thanks Jimmy my mom had a curved spine& COPD I do wonder if that is where I get mine from my spine is curved at the base where as moms curved between the shoulders, keep smiling x
thanks onadmission,, strange you should mention that ,,my old mother is still living well into
her 90,s i notice her spine is getting really curved badly now, her sisters were the same, but she has osteoporosis , i am waiting for a dexa scan for this also, i think [doc. thinks too] this is an almost certainty with family history of this , also the constant use of steroids , and having a.s. but i not to bothered really,, you keep on smiling too. my friend all the very best,,jimmy xx
the ankylosing spondulitis [still cant spell it right :)] has contributed a lot to my copd,, the rib bones are fused [and broken last year in car accident] spine is fused, not giving me any chest expansion, abdomen swelled. pushing up onto the lungs, ,,,,, but smoking 20 cigs for 60 years didnt help,, stopped now, but just a few weeks ago, but seem to be managing ok. all the best,, need to empty my pee pee bag , it feels heavierthan me lol :).....jimmy xx
i meant to say earlier, that i phoned the chemist, and the leg bags were faulty, they had received other calls concerning these. there was a tiny plastic lump, stopping the off lever to in fact turn off, it was hard to notice as it looked like the lever was closed, however alls well that ends well, had some more sent up, right away i might add, no problems since,,, thank god:)...jimmy
