It's not a very easy thing
To be an old man's dog
I find that I quite often have
To give his mind a jog
If my water bowl is empty
Or I'm running short of food
He only needs a little nudge
To get him fully clued.
But now he isn't very good
On those old legs he's got
I don't get out for walks as much
And I miss that quite a lot
We play games in the garden
And I like to chase the cat
But then I too am getting old
And perhaps a little fat,
We have a real partnership
And just keep plodding on
I think we've found real happiness
Just me and my old Don
