I've been a lurker here for ages, but don't know what the matter with me is yet. When I can get a chance I'll sort out the hospital letters with tests & results (mostly normal) but just a quick question for now.
The resp. consultant said that Fostair was the "last tool in the box" to help my breathlessness & cough.
I started it on 1st January & after a couple of weeks noticed a salty taste on my lips, it's got more noticeable, but does come & go a bit. Tried Dr google but the answers are all for an acidic taste - I don't know what that tastes like, vinegar & lemon are acids but taste different.🤔
I've been told that my acid level is normal. Not asthmatic apparently.
Cheers,
Jean🙂

Hi, I have been on fostair for years and often get a salty taste. It does come and go but I don't know why that should be. I'm just glad when it's gone as it is somewhat annoying.
I was on Fostair for many years and except for a slight tremor in the hands at the beginning I had no problems. However after a severe exacerbation and hospital stay I was then given Trimbow instead so the toolbox wasn't quite empty. Trimbow made a big difference.
hi I’ve been on Fostair for five years and I’ve never had a salty taste. It definitely keeps my lungs under control. It’s different people can get different symptoms. I’ve not heard of it before though.
Yes, strange how things affect different people in different ways. It has certainly helped my lungs, but being osteopenic if long-term use is recommended I'll have a dilemma!🤔
I have osteoporosis badly and am on Fostair mine is Luforbec now which is exactly the same ingredients as Fostair. It’s cheaper for my surgery. I’m on four puffs a day and that keeps me from having lung infections. So I’m between the devil and the deep blue sea. I’m on Denusumab for my bones and haven’t had further spinal fractures I hope. Although my back hurts all the time. I don’t know if I would know if I had new fractures. I had four in 2020 and went to the Dr saying my breathing was bad and my back aches. I was sent to hospital where they did a scan. They said it’s not your breathing you have four more fractures. I was absolutely dumbstruck.
Oh gosh Mavary, that sounds awful & being in constant pain must be so wearing. To have had spinal fractures just appearing for no reason must be frightening, I hope that the tablets for that will continue to work well.
Thank you! Me too. I can’t do too much. I can potter around the house and do a little but I’ve got a cleaner to clean for me. I struggle to get food and wash up but I do it. I don’t like the thought of an alternative. I hate frozen meals. If I had been sent for an X-ray when I had my first break in 2013 I could have been on treatment and probably had no more problems but the Drs didn’t recognise the fact I had a fracture.
