HI There

I'm new to this group , so looking for some help and advice please

Last June 2018 , my voice was getting hoarse, so went Dr , who though it was an allergy, gave me a nasal spray. That didn't do anything for me , so went to nurse she did test to check for Asthma , also sent me for a chest x ray , both came back ok .

Saw Dr again Anti biotics , , back to the nurse again Sputum test , came back clear , Back to Dr , said there was a crackling , another course , then back to the nurse again , another chest x ray , clear again.

Have seen Dr and nurses in all about 7 visit's altogether , last one Dr Said Dec 2018 , Ill put you on Steroid's , and another 3 day course of Anti Biotics, think I've had about 5 altogether .

So about 2 weeks ago , Wheezing starts again , back pain , and producing Sputum again , I'm wheezing as I'm typing , and I have the back pain , Wheezing s a lot worse in the night ,

Have any of you got any idea , what it could be, and should I go back to the Dr , maybe ask for a scan or something , I do feel something is not right.

Thanks for any info

Yes if you are wheezing, a hoarse throat could be many things but wheezing suggests chest infection or Bronchitis. A 3 day course of abs is totally pointless. If you have a chest infection you need atleast 14 days of a good antibiotic, Doxycycline or Clarithromycin something like that does the job.

Ask to be referred to a specialist as if it's been going on since June last year then you need an investigation and a CT scan will be what's needed, a chest X-ray shows very little only an infection patch or fluid.

Hi Shancock

Thank you so much for the info and advice , I was thinking about going back to Dr , so you've just confirmed to me what I should do

Thanks

Sounds like a good chest infection to me..sometimes we need several loads of antibiotics to clear it. Get an xray.

Go to one of the leading pulmonology hospitals for a diagnosis. My general pulmonologist in a Leeds (UK) private hospital gave up on trying to diagnose me 5 years ago when my final test of many (CT-guided biopsy) gave an ultimate thumbs down to his insistence that I had early stage lung cancer. One of the UK regional specialist lung centres (of which I believe there are 7 or thereabouts) diagnosed and cured a Malt lung lymphoma for me and then, when my infections and mucus production still continued, they alighted on bronchiectasis - which is a possible fit with your symptoms, but would only be confirmed by a high res CT scan and tests to discount other possible conditions.

Don't assume that pulmonologists are expert in every one of the many lung conditions. If you are getting nowhere and it seems like your own specialist is getting nowhere and if you are in the UK, insist on being referred to a centre of excellence with a multi-disciplined team of lung specialists. I know that Royal Brompton in London, Papworth in Cambridge and Queen Elizabeth in Birnmingham are 3 of them and there's one (two?) up in the Liverpool-Manchester area but I don't have the full list.
