Just been to the Dr's for a spirometry test. Been on the Incruse inhaler for the past three months after a mri scan showed emphysema. The inhaler was changed today to Anoro inhaler. Does anybody know what the reasons would be for the change. I go back to the Dr's in a months time for another spirometry

I believe Incruse is an LAMA whereas Anoro is a combination LAMA and LABA. He/she must feel that combination inhaler would benefit you. Did he give you the results of the spirometry and tell you what stage of COPD you have? I assume the spirometry in a month is to see if you have any improvement from the Anoro. I hope you will post the results and let us know if Anoro resulted in a better spirometry.
I have been told nothing at all about my copd, other than i have it after the results from my ct scan that showed my lungs where full of emphysema. I have not been told anything about what stage my copd is, and i never get told anything after doing the spirometry. I was sent for the scan after i went to the drs and told them about being breathless and i was originally sent for a chest xray that supposedly showed up air bubbles in my chest. The consultant at the hospital just said my lungs were full of emphysema, and when i went to the gp and told him this, this is when i was asked to see the nurse at the drs surgery. To be honest, i dont feel too bad within myself, i can walk without difficulty most of the time, but i can get very breathless if walking up any incline, or walking carrying anything that is quite heavy
I would suspect they gave you the Anoro and ordered another spirometry as hopefully it will improve your breathing given that it contains two different types of medications and hopefully that will show up in your spirometry and hopefully it will improve your ability to carry things are walk uphill. Let us know if your breathing improves with the Anoro but keep in mind it can take a few weeks to feel the full benefit of a new inhaler.
