Problem with Incruse and Relvar

Hi all, I had a chest infection for two weeks so held off trying out Relvar and Incruse until today. At 12 pm. I took a puff of each and all was well, went walking for 40 minutes to Lidl and when I got back and sat down I felt totally unwell, when I got a headache as well I had to lie down, when I didn’t feel better I rang the Irish Lung foundation and they contacted the consultant who said that I should stop the Relvar and only take the Incruse for a week, then after a week introduce the Relvar again and this way he can tell which I am allergic to. I told this consultant that I didn’t have Asthma but he seems to think I do have a component of it. I am still in bed, but I will go back to my own inherits tomorrow, just wanted to know if this happened to anyone of you.

I was in hospital when they gave me a Relvar inhaler. Thought it was the “bees knees” for about three weeks when it totally shut my lungs down. I have copd and they’d given me the strength for asthma . Then tried Fostair, same thing. Trelegy same thing, although my lungs felt ok , I had other bad reactions. I persevered but I got more ill. I have now gone back to my “old inhalers” Speriva andQvar but expect it’s going to take time to get back to normal. I also have a incisional hernia and which I think gives me really bad breathing problems. Hope you get it sorted. My gp thinks I’m intolerant to the “speriva” part of the multi inhalers. Good luck. Hope they sort it for u

That’s very interesting that you describe how your lungs shut down, I felt that was happening to me yesterday and had to go to bed, it is frightening. Thanks Bailey

Thanks Whit, do you mind if I ask do you have Asthma, the consultant thinks I may have some but I told him I never had Asthma and Relvar is especially for that

There are two strengths of Relvar. I was given the high dose one in the hospital but when I was having problems found out that the lower strength one should be given for copd. U might be on the wrong one 🤞

Thanks for that Bailey, I don’t intend to find out what dosage because I took my own inhalers this morning, too many problems with Relvar according to the well informed people on this site. It is wonderful to have somewhere like this to ask about Copd and you are all very helpful xxx

I took Incruse for my asthma and I got red blotches down my arms and headaches. It's not for everyone, it's trial and error I'm afraid with inhalers.

Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience, I hope that you get one that agrees with you, I think these doctors do not realise they are playing with peoples lives.

Hi Eirann, I had bad side effects with Incruse, eventually switched to Spiriva Respimat, which is a mist inhaler, no problems up to now, two draws in the morning. I have been looking for a good inhaler for years that don't have side effects, this one works for me, so don't give up! I rinse my mouth our after using any inhalers, saves any stomach upset etc. Keep pestering your doctor every time you get side effects. I hope you find one soon.

Take care.

Steve

Thanks Steve, I am glad you found a suitable inhaler, if it works for you then stick with it.

At rehab they told us they wanted us all on the new inhalers as old ones too expensive. When I told my gp he went bonkers. He says my health more important that cost ❤️❤️

Thanks Whit, my Copd has moved to very severe so the consultant thinks I may have some Asthma as well, I know that I haven’t but that is why he is trying Relvar, it is used to treat Asthma.
