Oh dear I think I broke your post 😓 I've somehow given it minus 1 likes! I love the picture inspite of that. It's incredible there are birds like that where you are. I thought they were only found in warmer climes.

So did I, But I did have them in Spain. My Brother who lives on Mersey Side, has told me there are lots of Estuaries for these Birds scattered all over the UK. xxx

I live in Wimbledon, sw London and there are loads of them.

I used to see one at my house just outside Warwick. Nobody believed me because they are supposed to be only seen in Southern England. Sadly haven’t had one since I moved to the next village.

Rose-ringed parakeets are the most common of the feral parrots in England. They have adapted very well to the climate and they are breeding too. Very common now, in the home counties.

In reply to @Hacienda also there's so many of these parakeets in my area, that some people aren't quite so pleased to have 20-30 lodged in their trees. However, selfishly they dont bother me and I enjoy their bold, vivid colours.

Hi Liz, as 2 G's said they are Feral parakeets. First time I have had them in my garden, they came back & forth in an hour to peck at Food, not seen them since. xxxx

Ahh lovely. Although I heard we are having problems with them as they are blocking the telephone masts. I think in certain countries the Monk parakeet is being culled because of the damage they do.🙁

What a pretty colour they are. I don't see many birds 🐦 here unfortunately, I have to drive to the park with lots of trees to see birds. Thank you for sharing Carolina. *HUGS* xx 😊

Stunning. Can you suggest they go further north? We have a lot of feeders. They would have to compete with the pheasants.

I’ll trade you...Yesterday a couple of woodpeckers have been tapping on the house, maybe roof. My golden doodle Owen won’t stop barking. He’s got a very deep loud bark. Good thing I live in the country on acreage. I’d have angry neighbors. I keep scaring them off but that lasts about ten minutes. Does this count as exercise for me...

I first saw one in Abbey Road, NW London in 1971. Little did I know then that that parrot was just the vanguard.
