I sent Bea Iris Primroses and she sent me a picture of flowers growing in our garden. Nice..It needs cleaning up, picking up those old leaves..
Anyway the rhumatologist diagnosed acute bursitis and I had to have an injection in the hip/thigh joint on both legs, an anaesthetic and steroids. That was fun ๐
So now during the hottest weather on record I must rest for 2 days with my legs elevated and take paracetamol then go back on the 7th. She said it doesnโt always work first time round.

Lucky I didnโt wait for the pain clinic appointment in Lyons, thatโs on May 27th!!
Sorry you are having a rough time Fran, hope you soon improve. Nice to see your photo of the spring flowers in bloom, a sign of better things to come. ๐ผ๐ธ๐โ๏ธxx
See what the BBC breakfast Carole tell us this morning. I thought it would last the week!
Well the specialist found the spot which hurt first time ๐ so I do hope so but had a rough night, not knowing where to put my legs. Got the ice packs in my socks, legs elevated.
She gave me a prescription for the podiatrist. I have to phone today.
I think the weekend with my cousin finished me off ๐ the weather was great, Motown was great, M&S and Ecco and Clarks were great ๐
Then she left Sunday at 4pm just in time for me to see Chelsea lose against City..I knew I had overdone it but it was good to have a laugh.
Hola Fran, Muy Bien por el Rhumatologist. Lets hope it does work, I'm sure with your outlook/ positivity, it will. Your Garden will be Blooming in no time, Primroses look lovely and happy. Have a Good Book while your resting, be hard for you not to be Moving around (Miss Busy Bee).
Our Weather has been lovely, I sat in the garden Today and my Spanish Tan has decided to come back through the white English Skin. I am pleased with the Feeling of Looking & Feeling Well. Mind you, Thursday it says, back to Clouds & rain. Well me Amiga, Buenas Noches, voy a me Cama Tengo Sueno. Hacen un Buen Noche tambien. Abrazos XXXXX
Yes finished one book ๐ last night and started another ๐
Glad you are enjoying the garden.
There is always a good side to things my niece is coming over with her new baby so even if I have to see the rhumatologist again on the 7th, Iโll get to see her on Sunday 10th with both brothers. Something to look forward to ๐ง๐ปโโ๏ธ
I had bursitis in my hip joint last year....agony .....by doing too much in one go on my exercise bike, instead of pacing myself.
I had a special treatment at the physiotherapist, she used a kind of pulse machine on the hip, but I can't remember exactly what she said it was. I borrowed crutches to get around for a while. I daren't try the bike again, it hurt so much.
We are doing well, aren't we .....first the spine fractures and then the bursitis .
I have found a series of meditations for back pain, together with a e book.
Thank Bea for the photo of spring flowers , and hope your pain eases soon.
Oh dear..Same here..no bike though..I see she wrote on the podiatrist prescription: Bilateral trochanteric bursitis, hyper mobility of joints and flat feet!
Well it is agony but I carried on with paracetamol until I got the appointment, what else can we do.
I also use Ease Pain health imagery and affirmations in my iphone with earphones at night..
No change today anyway.
I will thank Bea, you are kind โ๏ธ๐ง๐ปโโ๏ธ๐
This use of steroids has caused you some problems, poor, poor you ๐ณ So sorry youโre having to put up with all this. I wasnโt expecting bursitis to appear in the picture too. Sounds so painful!
Iโve looked up Cushings, shows usual steroid use bad boys, but not bursitis. Maybe your busy London visit has had a pay-off ๐จ on top of everything else? The price of fun?? and trekking round hospitals? Or maybe Iโve just not researched well enough.
Anyway, found this list for us....!
Natural ways to lower cortisol

*Exercising.
No news there maybe, but Iโve underlined the best bits!! ๐
Do hope things improve for you soon.
I see weโve both got a match tonight....havenโt sorted whatโs on tv yet. Surely youโre not going to Stamford Bridge???? Hope not, though Spurs should give you a good game....if theyโre manager (canโt spell his name!) doesnโt lose it again!!
Lots of love, enjoy your enforced rest if you can. RELAXEZ VOUS!!
Lots of love ๐ฝ๐ธโฝ๏ธโ๏ธ๐ Penny x
and a BIG HUG as youโre poorly! Cyber ones donโt hurt ๐
Actually now you mention it I think my legs got worse with the train journey, carrying the suitcase all over Paris, up and down trains..do you remember I had to lie down for a couple of days afterwards..just as I had the bronchitis..
My cortisol is very low, too low as my adrenal glands are not producing..hydrocortisone is supplementing..
Anyway I have doctors to worry about it for me..I am past understanding the ins and out of it all Penny.
I pop in the pills, have the injections, say thank you very much and tomorrow is another day..
Thatโs just the relaxed attitude thatโs needed! Yes, indeed I do remember your long tiring haul via Paris to London. I stood amazed ๐ฌ I know I would have struggled to do it....probably stronger will than body!!
It sounds as though youโve benefitted from your trip overall, even if a few war wounds to sort out. You seem to be in good medical hands at least, Fran, so letโs hope that as the weeks go by, all settles to something better ๐ Good luck, my friend, ๐ท Penny x
Hi Fran love the photo of your garden. You are certainly having a rough time at the moment but you always stay positive and keep smiling. Take care๐ Bernadette xx
Thank you..trying to keep smiling..had friends helping with the chemistโs etc..and they are coming to check on me today, not that I need to but it cheers me up to see such kindness.
Wow has Spring already sprung over there? Our time goes back to daylight savings in another 10 days or so, thatโs our first sign here things will be changing soon. I still have my precious flower pots covered with sheets as they arenโt frost tolerant and they can drown from too much water it has, as of yesterday, started drying up a bit. Thanks for the pic,Spring will be here sooon
That shot stung pretty good huh? It was the anesthetic that goes in before the steroid I believe is what hurts most. I really really hope it gives you some pain relief. Give it a good week or so to reach its full potential. ๐ค fingers crossed for you
Hello Fran, glad you got things sorted a pity you have to rest but it will do you good. The pain clinic just suggested I take more paracetamol, theres no cure. So in my opinion your lucky to have got it sorted before you go there in May even though I know you are in another country receiving your treatment. Good luck with the rest and the garden looks nice just like early spring. Its so warm here I have mini daffs blooming already and Hyacinths, probably be killed off when the weather changes at the end of the week. Enjoy your day. xx
Yes you are right. I couldnโt imagine taking 2 trains, changing stations in Paris in that state. I was wondering when I would be fit enough to go home!
She was very kind, she also consults for Arthritis UK. She said to tell the Endocrinologist I should be back on prednisolone instead of Hydrocortisone because I had Rhumatoid problems. Will he listen..
Paracetamol and cold, so ice packs seem to be the trend. They donโt want to give anything stronger over 65 she said with the new anti-opioids findings etc
Flowers are ephemeral like the good weather but we have our pictures!๐ท๐ธ๐ผ๐ป
Hope it doesnโt snow again in Switzerland when I get back!
That's a tidy border, Fran, lovely sharp edge to the grass and hardly any debris from the winter ravages. Gardenng is all backache, but worth it.
When I was in my late fifties I was crippled with hip pain. Went to the doctors, he gave me an injection in the hip for bursitis and tkd me that would clear it up. It turned out to be arthritis and a life long pain. I take cider vinegar and honey in warm water each morning when it is troublesome, believe it helps. Love Iris x
Hi Fran, wow those injections are so painful you poor thing, fingers crossed it works and you dont need to have them again, but if it does the trick then it will have been worth it.
The garden is looking good and just starting to grow, a quick tidy up will have it shipshape.
I did some tidying up last weekend and cut the grass, must admit it really did me in. My rheumatoid is in flare up and so painful, I should have paced myself better and my shoulder will take some settling down but hey hum, shouldnt have been so impatient.
Have just started with a cold and am hoping it will pass quickly.
Well hun, hope you feel like a new lady when these injections take effect.
Glad you enjoyed the weather and the garden is looking good.
Maybe those sudden changes in the weather are affecting our joints, who knows. Rubbing that arnica oil balm from Weleda is certainly helping me.
Do nurse that cold. I am chesty now, taking hot teas etc thinking all steroids are keeping me afloat ๐
I didnโt feel the injections at all. She injected an anaesthetic first lidocaine then the steroids. After it was a little painful when she rubbed the injection liquid in but not more than a bruise I would say.
Well after nearly 48 hours of resting off my feet my knees are still a little painful tonight but my right ankle and heel still hurt when I put my foot down. I will carry on with ice and paracetamol until I see her again on the 7th but start walking around a little tomorrow to keep my strength.
I will look around Boots for some of those gel insoles tomorrow, see if that helps.
It looks lovely, thanks for sending it round. Sorry to hear about your pain, I hope it eases a bit soon. It will soon be safe to sit outside, I can't wait
Hi Fran, I hope you do well with the injections and find relief for your pain. The weather has been beautiful here but has change today very foggy and cold. All the spring flowers are ready to come out will have a good show of daffodils when they do my favourite flower. Bought a bunch yesterday they look lovely. Take care dear Fran Majt ๐๐ป๐ท๐ ๐น
