Hospital lung specialist still unhelpful as ever, passing the buck. He just said it is the wrong antibiotic anyway so stop taking it,
denied I ever had bronchitis or a lung thing.
I said there are some cocci as well on the report, I coughed blood and the respiratory physio said She heard crackling and we had to do drainage ..He didnโt listen and give me anything else, said I looked well and I needed to see an ENT..
Then I asked to see the infectiologist who is in charge of the hospital hygiene actually, whose name was on the sputum report. My daughter had seen him when she got typhoid and said he was very good. He will come by my room on Monday.
Just need to know if this thing is a super bug as they say and if it needs treatment.
In the meantime, I have a sinus ct scan planned today for the ENT on the 26th.
Im quite sure I caught it at the cataract op. Where else?
I will sort it out..it seems to take longer than needed but you know what it is like ..so focusing on the good things in life. I am so lucky to be able to watch that view from the cafeteria..
If that's your view from the cafeteria that is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Really sorry to know you're having such problems. Until now your health care there seems to have been pretty good. It is beyond frustrating when going to the hospital makes you sick. And even worse when they just palm you off with dismissive nonsense. I hope it can all be sorted out soon and you start to get better. Good luck with the infectologist on Monday. ๐ค
Haha Carole ๐ yes probably he needs the ENT, he was sick actually, no mask ๐ท of course, I said whatโs up with you he said I think I have a laryngitis..so I wasnโt hard on him..just another overworked hospital doctor. He mainly deals with lung oncology. He looked like he needed a good cup of tea two sugars!
I just miss my GP ๐ข those things always happen when he is on holiday, he would have taken care of everything and now I have to fend for myself again. I know I am and I will..so I am telling myself ๐
Thank you for your ongoing support it means a lot xxx
Morning Fran, keep at em hard and fast I'm sure you could blind them with science. At least your still an in patient I'm pretty sure that by now my chest team would gave sent me home saying they need the bed lol. All systems go here not yet opened a suitcase and gave decided to leave home today to make sure the weather doesn't delay our check in time tomorrow morning. So a night in hotel praying the a.c and heating fans are clean. Nine hours on a plane with recycled air, yuk, I really must be crazy. But...i so enjoy the usa. Take care Fran I hope you soon improve, positive thinking everyday. Jane
Fran, ferocity is required, I give you permission! Perhaps talking through gritted teeth...๐
I've often thought some of these purported experts should be taken by the throat, oh somewhat forcefully, their face peered into intently and have it inquired of them, "Listen, stupid. What is it about not breathing well, you don't understand?" ๐ค
But, it's true he doesn't know you... and probably thinks he's the expert...๐
Sorry! Just get upset when breathing issues are treated so dismissively.
Oh my gosh, been there, done that!
Whatever are they thinking an ENT would do? ๐ค
I hope the infectiologist can get you sorted.
That's a lovely view to share your meals with. Thank you for sharing it with us๐๐ I think your positive attitude will see you through this rough patch,
I'm so grateful that you share it here with all of us.
Thank you Anne, just had the sinus CT scan, I think it is wasted money really, not mine theirs but still. And more radiation for me! Theyโve got the bug, the list of antibiotics which match, after that what more do they need..
Love
Fran xx
This doesnโt smell right.
โข in reply to
Lost my sense of smell I think Littlepom, trying to keep my sense of humour ๐ท๐
it sounds almost as if he is floundering around in the dark, unsure quite what to do or say. Hopefully the infectiologist will take the lead on this and get it sorted out for you.
Thatโs what I thought 2greys..It started on Sept 7th with a little temperature and my chest burning , saw him on the 11th, he sent me packing saying I had a virus and I looked well, coughing my heart out I was doing pfts..
didnโt feel better saw my GP on the 13th, had 2 sputum tests to do I couldnโt do them the same day, I saw they are dated 14th, 15th. He said to do them before I started the antibiotics. So I started them last Saturday, didnโt feel better, took them 7 days. Of course he didnโt know what I had, I got the results on the 20th.
All that was sent to the lung consultant, I saw he was copied.
Well he saw me yesterday, told me stop the antibiotics which were not adapted to this bacteria, said my lungs were clear but didnโt listen, said my LAM was stable but thatโs not right, I got my stats finally and I saw they had dropped.
Even something weird happened, I did the reverse test with Ventolin and my stats dropped further. It is all in a red column. Never noticed that before, I checked on google it means that it isnโt the right bronchodilator for you.
Well he could have changed it? I had asked for the terbutaline..
So you see Iโm not very happy, binding my time until I seem the LAM consultant on Nov 7th in Lyons, France, a while to wait, Iโll cope ๐
Well Happy friend the problem is obvious, over here in the Uk it is nigh on impossible to see a Gp without bribing a receptionist, yet in France and Switzerland you have ologists coming out of the woodwork to prod and poke you.move over here Happy Fran where we rely on no treatment at all,it's safer!
No worse the doctor had laryngitis ๐He shook my hand and took a seat, I went to wash my hands straight after ๐, I bet he had a cold, had lost his voice..I am isolated!!
Well maybe I caught it at the ophthalmic hospital..I had another scan this morning, sinuses this time..
I wouldnโt sue them, itโs my local hospital, no point I need to rely on them..more like inciting them to do the right thing by me..๐
I think as 2greys said he is out of his depth, well so I am ๐
I have been listening to music which is good for the soul, there was Frank Sinatra singing Iโve got you under my skin and Barbra Streisand Happy Days are here again! Thanks to the radio ๐ป
Canโt be all bad then. I have done my hand washing and sprayed the room with breathing essential oils and I am ready for a coffee โ๏ธ
lovely blue sky Fran, quite cloudy here but for now rthe rain has stopped. Have just finished reorganising the dining room after the decorating, looks much better with a fresh coat of paint but will have to rest the flu jab made my shoulders really painful. Good luck on Monday, we have both been having a roughish time this year but at least we are still able to enjoy the nice things in live like nature and blue skies. Take care will be thinking of you on Monday, I see rheumatology on Tuesday, its a lady who deals with crystals in the joints caused by things like gout. Let you know how it goes.xx
The flu jabs in UK start in September the first week was 8th at my surgery. The dining room is now finished window blind went up yesterday. Think in future I will have to consider having mine done while I am holiday. Enjoy your day it is lovely and sunny here. Bye for now xx
I remember they like to inject chronically ill and elderly patients first but my GP wanted me to wait until end of September when I lived in London. The later the better he said because in fact it only lasts 6 months max. So when you think it takes 2 weeks to get in your system, full flu season starts in December..usually around Christmas when we are indulging ๐
Anyway here it seems to be end of October so it is for Mum in southern France, I suppose the virus travels south later..
Yes I expect painting and decorating with a fracture and a swollen arm took a lot. You are a very brave lady.
It probably took your mind off things ๐
Well it is sunny here but an icy northern wind is blowing, they call it โ la biseโ like a kiss! Ironic I think.
So keeping warm today waiting for the doctor to come by.
What a wonderful view Fran, but not a good trade off for your health. Hope the infectiologist can help you tomorrow. Glad you're insisting on getting to the bottom of your problem(s) and not being fobbed off. Good luck xxx
Hope I can get sorted tomorrow then be allowed out. I donโt think they will let me out until I have seen the ENT on the 26th. Will see. Thank you for caring xx
Oh poor you how much more can your body take? Its a daily struggle isn't it but like you said a positive mental attitude helps for sure and the view you have from the cafeteria, is so beautiful. Good luck when you speak to the hospital hygiene man. I'm the proud owner of what they call post nasal drip!! Yes it sounds funny ,I'm a drip, but only from the nose. Being on oxygen can give you this after long periods but I'm running like Hussain Bolt!! Best wishes.
Itโs the same bug, just didnโt have a name for it ๐ I had a cough to stsrt with now I have a blocked up nose and I am short of breath..I think a change in the weather will help, still 27 today. Down to 18 tomorrow!
Oh dear..does it irritate your throat..
Nasal rinse helps with post nasal drip.
See if you can get that Sinus Neil rinse from the chemist. It will soothe your nose of irritation caused by the oxygen cannula.
Sprinter....moi???? Now where did I hide my running shoes? Yep,nasal drip and even walking, can be quite a challenge at night time visits to the little girls room, without slipping over. They call it the "snail trail" Seriously though,I do hope you can clear your infection and cooler weather is better for you.
No idea where those places are ๐ or the distance..I am a member of the LAM Foundation, my lung disease is called LAM, I just wrote I needed a top pulmonologist for a friend in Nova Scotia so 2 people answered from Nova Scotia, both recommended him.
If he suggested you went to hospital I would imagine it is probably because you need some type of antibiotics they only give in hospital or dosage stronger than you can have at home and/or under supervision I would think.
If you want more information why donโt you ask the British Lung Foundation helpline, you will have a better idea then.
They are used in some lung diseases. I suppose they go straight down your chest so are more effective than by mouth. I havenโt had any. I have had IV or injections before..
