Steroids can cause reflux, acidity etc but they are part and parcel of a good preventer..see with your GP if another type suits better.

Take care.

Hi there thanks for your response our experience seems the same I've had asthma all my life I'm nearly 50 now. Up until 2 years ago I could eat anything any time but I did look after myself and kept healthy. I was put on Seretide about 10 years ago, which was great for my asthma but I started to get indigestion which I was told was a coincidence. Anyway I was put on 15mg of Lanzaprozole and I was fine no problems. But about 2 years ago I had very bad bronchitis which was treated with lots of inhaled and oral steroids and antibiotics. Ive not been the same since I have daily chest pain reflux symptoms but all the investigation says that my reflux is normal. I changed to Alvesco steroid inhaler recently which activates in the lungs only and stopped taking the LABA and all my symptoms almost went away. I was put on 60mg of Lanzaprozole which has helped massively. The consultant says that I have a sensitive oesophagus and I believe him. I cant take ant reliever now without severe reflux which is soul destroying when your asthma is bad. I do all the common sense things with food etc but basically I think that's how it will be for me now. I'm gutted to be fair.

I have Alvesco as well as Serevent and Ventolin. I am on Omeprazole 40mg and Riopan Gel on demand.

Antibiotics are a digestive killer honestly probiotics or not..

I am on daily steroids due to adrenal glands insufficiency because of steroid intake over the years..presently in hospital waiting for my pancreas mri results..all due to steroids again I expect..

Try the alcaline acido basic diet..it is what has helped me most so far. I do the strict one at home with lactose free dairy (because I am 100% lactose intolerant so I have discovered last year..) and I adapt when I go out so you can still have a social life! But it is pretty much vegetarian and bland. Suits me fine these days..

Good luck x

Use a spacer e.g. Aerochamber. Deposition of the drug is much better.
