I had my introduction and fitting for my CPAP machine yesterday, a sleek looking āResMed, AirSense 10 Autosetā with clip on humidifier š¤
I managed about 4 hours with the mask on before waking up. In my sleepiness I didnāt figure that the mask was half off and the airflow was constant, all a bit confusing but Iām sure after a read of the accompanying literature, this afternoons snooze will be better managed.
Iām feeling more refreshed and less tired also my morning headache is not as severe. The Respiratory Nurse did say it would take a few attempts to get it right and about 3-4 weeks for results to really start showing but first impressions are good and Iām looking forward to more than 4 hours.
Practice makes.... pretty good š

Hi CoffCoffWalkWalk, youāll soon get used to it, I was diagnosed with Type II Respiratory Failure in April 2017 and was put on oxygen 24/7 1 litre at rest and 2 litre on exertion, but I also retain oxygen so I needed BiPAP, in January this year I got my own BiPAP machine a ResMed Lumis 150, Iāve used it every night since for 8 and a half hours, using 4 different masks.
Iāve now had my oxygen cut to 15 hours a day and 8 hours of that is at bedtime, I no longer fall asleep in the morning and no longer get the headaches that oxygen retention causes, I still need oxygen on exertion, but I havenāt felt this well for years.
If youāre find your struggling with your your mask seal ask your respiratory lab about changing it, I have to use a full face mask, because Iām on a high pressure 30cm H2O, the best full face mask Iāve used is the ResMed AirFit F20, this week my respiratory lab gave me a Philips DreamWear full face mask which you wear below your nose and over your mouth, so you can read a book in bed with no air blowing in your eyes, as is the case with other full face masks, and I can highly recommend it.
