Hi hollyboo, whilst I am not an Oncologist, I too had SABR treatment at the end of May after diagnosis in Feb. I have done extensive research on the treatment and asked many questions concerning SABR.
In answer to your question, yes it can continue to shrink it does take time. The treatment works by damaging the tumour's DNA, this stops it from reproducing itself, stops it from growing and as the cells die off they cannot be replaced, hence the wait for it all to die off, shrivel and calcify. You will be getting 3 monthly CT scans to keep a check on it for the next 12 months.
If and it is a "big if" it has been unsuccessful then there are options to have chemo and/or immunotherapy.
I know full well that this is a difficult, worrying time for you and natural to want answers, but please try not to dwell on it. You have to be patient just as I have to be.
thank you for your response , what is immunotherapy ?
