Good idea to phone your GP Kandi. I too have swollen ankles and feet but no lung disease and am carer for husband with COPD. I’m seeing GP this afternoon as think it’s fluid retention.
There can be many reasons for swollen feet and ankles. I can think of of at least a dozen that are not lung related. Your safest route is to see your GP to eliminate other possibilities. Obviously any water retention can affect the lungs so you need to see your GP.
I was put on Prednisone last fall to treat my lung infection. I was on oxygen for It too. It worked for me in a totally different way. I was depressed and was wanting to be by myself. Over the 2 1/2 months I was on it, I gained 80 pounds (I'm only 5 ft 2 inches) in addition to the water retention. My lung Dr. told me when he put me on it, that there is an 95% that I would gain weight possibly a significant amount. He also warned me that I could experience mild depression. I was really upset that it did. You do have to be weened off it slowly,
or it can be a severe reaction. It did work. It worked for me though. I was able to get off oxygen and the infection healed. It works, but be ready to have side affects. I hope this helps. Go luck. My thoughts are with you.
