Anyone experienced this. I've been very congested these last 4 months or and found it hard to bring anything up. I've had antibiotics off and on too. Yesterday I felt it loosening but each time I brought anything your was bloody mucus clots. This happened about a dozen times. I now feel as if an exacerbation is going to flare up....
Any advice?

This happens to me, sometimes frequently then not for a couple of months. I have been thoroughly checked in hospital and had a bronchoscopy. No reason has been found as I did not have any bleeds, but it is thought I may have small blood vessels burst with exacerbations or one of the valves I have fitted is grazing the tissue. It normally happens after I have been unwell (but not always) but I tend to feel better when the blood has come away so the consultants and I don’t worry about it anymore.
Please see your doctor or consultant as everyone is different and this information is only my personal experience.
I forgot to say it is a good idea to take photos with perhaps a thumb nail in view to give a size guide, the photos also give a time line and frequency for yor doctors. I still do this in case I have any problems.
Just remember not to ‘send’ them to all your friends!
Hicaz, I have been coughing up blood and along with it some tiny clots in my mucus . I did take pictures of it to show my specialist ( he wasn’t happy when I did as I have to admit it was pretty disgusting ) but he kept asking me to try and describe exactly what it was like, and iv also found that when I was very unwell and coughed up blood continuesly for about 18 hrs I felt I could definetly breath easier. But I would strongly advice you to get this checked and take pics and notes of when it’s happening. I have multiple blood clots in both my lungs and drs disagree when I asked if it was possible I was coughing up some small blood clots two have said yes and two said definetly no. One last thing is when iv had a lot of mucus along with the blood and managed to get it sent to lab by my gp I did have infection so the antibiotics did help slightly. Please get it checked and j wish you well and I know it’s scary to see blood but you must get yourself checked out good luck and I hope to hear how your getting on 🌹🌹
Hi have had similar problems, you cough & cough and nothing seems to move then it all comes. Are you on anything like a blood thinner? that had something to do with the "bloody" clots. Now they have reduced the dosage of blood thinners it seems to have halted the "bloody" clots but my mucus still is a pain to move.
