Had an asthma attack at the weekend as i could not dress or walk or do anything without breathing being out of control.
Took extra nebs and eventually 8x 5mg prednisolone. This now day 3 and feeling better. Does anyone know how long you can take them for without reducing dose. Many thanks

I’m glad you’re feeling better and all I know is that Pete takes extra pred for around two weeks when he has a chest infection and then starts to drop them back down again. Check with your doctor to be sure though.
My doctor gives me strict instructions re dosage and tapering . Think you should probably check with doc. That sounds like a really horrible attack. Hope you're getting over it OK now.
Hi I've been taking 15mg of pred in the morning and another 5 mg at 3pm, some days I can barely walk 10 steps without being completely out of breath, also on 2 types of inhalers, one of them 2puffs in morning and one for instant relief. I've been on the pred for about 6 mo.. the strange thing is i usually feel reasonably good for 3 days and then bad for two or three., don't know what's going on.
I an prescribed a pack of 40 5mg prednisolone with the instruction to take 8 daily for 5 days only if having an acute exacerbation of Copd. I very rarely take them as the side effects I've heard about scare me silly.
Hi ..of course you do!! I'm sorry if I sounded abrupt. I was just meaning , in response to how long can preds be taken without tapering , I get the dose I mentioned without tapering ... :))
