Was diagnosed with hypersensitivity pneumonitis several months ago now, and been on a course of mycophenolate mofetil which over a two month period has increased every two weeks: As 50% of my lungs are damaged.
I’m feeling pretty exhausted currently, as my bloods have to be checked every two weeks at my local hospital and then my medication gets increased. But what really bugs me and gets me so down, is my constant coughingthg, clearing of my throat, wheezyness and shortness of breath: Not forgetting the lack of sleep!
Whilst I do believe I have a lung disease, I am now beginning to wonder if my diagnosis is correct, because whilst researching the symptoms of hypersensitivity pneumonitis the symptoms for this does not sit with me what so ever! But when comparing my symptoms to acid reflux, I pretty much answer ‘yes’ to every symptom and I strongly believe this has contributed to my lung condition.
I was previously on lansporazole but told to come off it. Then I started to suffer with chest infection upon chest infection, which kept reoccurring over a 12 month period in which I had a total of 7 chest infections, and was treated with steroids and inhalers. Eventually after several trips to the doctors I was sent for the relevant chest X-rays as my family were getting pretty concerned. The X-rays resulted in showing scarring and I was referred to a lung consultant , and hence here I am.
I’ve since been back to my doctors who has put me back on lansoprazole (one tablet every morning) and I will consult further when I see the lung consultant next month. I also have a hiatus hernia so it makes me wonder what part this has to play also!
My husband and daughter have very kindly done a lot of reasearch on the web, and therefore I have a lot more questions to discuss with my consultant, because I also believe I need referring to a gastroenterologist too. However, I won’t be disclosing the information I have until he’s reviewed and discussed my next lung function test, as I’m keen to see if my current medication has or is suppressing my lung condition.
For those of you who have kindly read this, then thank you. Please feel free to reply if any of my symptoms relate to you or if you have any advise as it would be lovely to hear from you. 🙂
