Hi I have electronic FEV PEF meter and hardly use it as can make you tad neurotic.

Well that’s what I found .. this loads things can effect numbers like inflammation or infection.

Finding out your blood gas numbers I think are more accurate.

That’s only done in hospital tho WELL I think is

Hey there Jeff, I tend to agree with you on this similar to people with CF, people with asthma may become overly dependent on the peak flow reading despite having worsening symptoms. It should be made clear to users that the device is a tool to help self-management, rather than replace symptom-based self-assessments.

I have one yes..it is better than the manual one, it tells me if I am in the green, orange or red so I can use my action plan and know which meds to take

Hi Aido I bought one in January. I'm finding it very useful so far. I particularly like the way you can add notes which i hope will help me discover why the readings can differ so much. It's also useful to send me a a breakdown by month or week so you can see at a glance all the readings. I also bought a Lidl's oximeter which uses an app to capture the data. No I'm not neurotic but it's cheaper than going to my pulmonolgist 😉 And therefore will only visit when I really need to.

Thanks Pat, I felt I was a tad neurotic but as I am on Xolair the consultant wants to track progress and clinical effectiveness. I find it’s easier for me to have the electric one then doing out the graph myself. To be honest I used to rarely do it when I had to manually log the results and draw graph etc

Hey there, I see them on EBay for around 9-10 quid. The one in this link is the Mini Wright I would recommend this as it’s the one every doctor, resp nurse I have seen use. It seems to be the standard one in clinic m.ebay.ie/itm/MINI-WRIGHT-S... This is the link to the PEF FEV1 I got on Amazon amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01FWH... it cost me 77 pound but I do think it’s worth it if it’s easier to track the old one.
