So so tired...

No energu, just exhausted. Nearly a week since my septoplasty and FESS, it's slowly clearing, very crusty an gunky and when I do a sinus rinse you wouldn't believe the crap that comes out, it's vile! The pressure is easing now around my eyes and head and that's a relief. My consultant called me yesterday evening to see how things were going, he said the procedure was very successful and he was happy with it. I'm seeing him this Friday to be cleaned out! Whatever that means. Anyway he said all sounds good and gradually each day symptoms will improve.

But I am so tired its ridiculous, all I can do to put a wash on. I've got zero energy, the fact that I'm sleeping very little isn't helping, managed to get 4 hours last night best so far. But I am resting a lot. I do have low blood pressure and I'm sure it's lower at the moment. It's never been so low I've needed meds but it's always in the lower category.

Is it usual to feel so exhausted after a surgery? Who'd thought a sinus op would be so painful and tiring! I had a minor surgery when I was 18 and remember bouncing back dead quickly, I realise I'm 40 now with kids etc so that's not the same anymore! I'm due back at work next Wednesday so I hope I've got more energy then, or it'll be terrible. I am eating well btw, a smoothie everyday, yogurts veggies etc. And vitamins but ai can't shake the exhaustion!

If you have had a general anaesthetic then it can take ages to feel less tired, but I hope you feel better soon.

Hello Shancock .

I remember the dreadful exhaustion and yes.. The never-ending "gunk". It will be that way for a while. But it will pass. I know it's hard to imagine, but trust me on this.

Your rhinolaryngologist will clean out all your nasal passages. After every clean you will feel better. It just takes time. He will also show you the work done and how "good" it all looks, though I could never really tell.

Hang in there.

Cas xx 🌻

So sorry..ah well if he is happy with the op that’s something..did you tell him how you felt?? Did he give you some tips??

Well it is your breathing organ, so you need to get that oxygen in..how does your chest feel?? plus as Carnival said anesthetics wear you out..and you lost blood..

Take it easy, take your time and stop worrying, you will go back to work when you are good and ready..

Sitting down in armchair, not lying down, feet up, cuppa, baby steps doing chores etc

Eat iron and vitamin C foods..keep well hydrated for your low blood pressure, a bit of salt, a bit of sugar..

Wishing you well 💕

I had a General and was out for couple of hours. I have been as usual taking vitamins and iron 14mg daily. Drinking green smoothie everyday, lots of veggies. Even though I have little taste yet.

My daughters got the flu right now (great timing) buts she's not a baby (15) so I'm keeping a bit of distance and lots of hand washing so I don't catch it fingers crossed.

Haven't felt well since October when it all started with terrible bronchitis infection, then sinus infection followed and reflux was horrendous. Just want to be myself again! After I get over this I've got some tests to come and then Linx surgery so another surgery to overcome.

I so want to be up and running by the summer and full of energy again! We're going away end of June to Devon as it's my daughters 16th so by then I want to be fighting fit. I will ask for some bloodwork to be done if I'm not less lethargic in few weeks.

GAs are extremely tiring and though you’ll hopefully feel much better in a week or two, in a month or two you’ll feel so much better, you’ll realise you didn’t feel as better as you thought.....if you follow my meaning! In other words, it does take time so try to be patient with yourself, you’ll feel wiped out for quite a while yet. I bet you’ll get to that holiday eventually, feeling so much better..... you’ve been very brave 💐🌻🌸

Thank you 😊 I'm sure it will slowly get easier, it's just I hate being so poorly. When you've got kids it's a nightmare as I always feel like I'm letting them down not being able to have fun at the moment. I can't swim for at least 6 weeks an my son loves swimming 😢

I know that we'll start having fun again soon and I'll give them lots of treats 🍭 It's my son he has severe disabilities and doesn't understand as he's non verbal. I can't wait for summer to take him to the beach and get ice cream.

Fingers crossed we all have a good summer and lots of 🍸🌞

I’m sorry if I made things sound a bit easier than they are for you. Your non-verbal son with special needs really does make your situation special, you’ve really got a lot to cope with for now. I do hope you’re feeling better very soon. Meanwhile, does your son have a carer, who maybe could take him to a swimming class, or is it Mum only?? Just trying to think where you might find some help while you’re struggling. Thinking of you 🌺💐

He goes every week at school so still doesn't miss out, but I enjoy it too. He stays at a respite care 2 nights a month too and was there at the weekend so I could rest. He's such a good boy though, a joy no trouble I love looking after him we have lots of fun, when I'm well. I'll get through it everyday gets slightly easier. Thank you x

Special children have a way of wrapping themselves very tightly round your heart strings 😍💞 I’m glad you’ve got access to at least some of the help you need while you get strong again. You’ll be back swimming with your boy in a couple of months or so, and you and he will enjoy it even more after the break. Get well soon but take care as you get there xx

I felt down after my ops and they only lasted 30mins the anthesia its a side effect from it what you have just described take about 3wks to go ,but everybodys different.ask your consultant on fri about feeling tired.
