When I was in hospital in 2010 (a long time ago!), my O2 level was down to 91% and escending when walking. (I actually tried to be without O2 while doing my TaiChi, but always rush to my mask.

They wanted me to go home. One doctor discharged me. I said to the staff that I was not going home without a compressor. I obtained it because I didn't feel well.

They also gave me bottles to be able to go out for an hour. I used these to go to the gym three times a week. The gym helped me with breathing. After a month, I noticed I could do some exercises without O2. After 2 months, I regained my breathing power.

To answer your question, if your ocygen level goes down with walking, you need oxygen at home. I retold my story, because it's not a hopeless situation. With some or more time, it is possible to regain your breathing power.

The compressor is a good support. But try to do some indoor exercises, and see if very, very gradually, you can stay without it for 5 minutes at a time. Of course, you need to be monitored. It takes more or less time according to your disability.

I had COPD. I had to recover from TB and pseudomonas. This is very specific, it's only a very particular example. Breathing is a vital. Perhaps you need more O2. You certainly need to be monitored. I am no doctor and only cite my experience. I only say that it's perhaps feasible. It is mainly according to your condition.

(As people here will know, I'm all for exercises. BUT I know one has to take it easy and only gradually take on exercises. Tai Chi is a slow exercise, but slow means adapting your breathing gradually and stopping when you need to.

Soory this is a completely unscientific anecdotal example. I hope it can help y ou, and give you some hope. WE are all here to receive this hope and never lose it. So courage, and see what YOU can do.

Not everybody needs oxygen. It is only ever prescribed if your oxygen levels fall below a certain amount. Those that need it find they can manage their day a little better with it and the oxygen itself helps to protect other organs, hope this helps
