Holiday oxygen and hotels

I have booked a Travelodge for a few days away this month, requiring my usual oxygen prescription whilst I am away. Arranging the two together is proving a bit problematic.

The hotel tell me that I must there to accept the delivery on arrival and collection on departure. The oxygen company can’t guarantee they can match that.

Does anyone know of 02 friendly hotels in Pembrokeshire ? Does anyone have any tips for me in arranging time away with 02 please ?

TIA.

Pleased that was simple for you. Can I ask who you stayed with for your stay please ?

Mostly Devon! But I am sure you will find out more if your Respiratory nurse phones BOC

Thanks Carole, it is a wee bit more complicated than that. Our Home Oxygen nurses don’t arrange for our holiday 02. We have to call our provider company, Air Liquide and then they speak to the 02 provider Baywater which covers the holiday area I am hoping to travel to.

Right now it really doesn’t feel like I want to make the effort!

Thanks anyway.

I suggest the hotel is being unhelpful. Given this is an 'accessibility' issue I think a bit of righteous pressure may be called for.

Thank you so much for that advice, not faced with this issue before so it is really helpful !

Im sorry to hear that but i think maybe you would be better changing your venue as I go away at least 5 times a year I am on oxygen 24/7 I have stayed in hotels travel lodges caravan park and rented cottages but never have I had to be there to accept the oxygen or when its collected. It might be a good idea to try and phone the travel lodge again and maybe you will get a better response as so many of their employees have no idea when it comes to special need, on the day you are booked in they know what room is allocated to you so its the simplest thing for the reception just to let the delivery person know and they rig it up all ready for you and its ready and waiting.I wish you all the luck and a very enjoyable few days away.

Hi Wendy, thanks so much for taking the time to respond to my query. I really appreciate you sharing your experience of oxygen availability whilst you are holidaying away from home. It has been very helpful to learn of the experience of others in needing 02 whilst away.

During the weekend I sent Travelodge ( national ) a direct message asking for intervention and clarification. I hope for a response this week. I plan to speak again to the specific Travelodge which I have booked with too this week.

Fortunately I have booked on a fully refundable basis so if I do have to cancel I will be refunded without hassle!

Thanks for your support with this.

Go well.

Hi Pauline

I have found oxygen is delivered Mon-fri in scotland. If your stay involves the weekend say Saturday then they’d drop of the supplies the day or two before depending on their schedule. Hotels I’ve been to have all been great happy to hold either side of the trip. I’ve never been to Pembrokeshire so can’t recommend any specific hotels for their oxygen storage system.
