Good afternoon all 🙂

Could anyone recommend a company that i could rent a portable oxygen concentrator for a holiday abroad ,at a reasonable cost please?

The two quotes i have, are both for over £800 for one week!

Thanks in advance.

Steve

I'm sure you have tried Intermedical and Oxygenstore for hiring concentrators? Have you asked your oxygen supplier if they will allow you to take one abroad? It always involves cost when you need oxygen equipment. Hope you are successful in finding one Steve.

Hi, thanks for replying. I haven’t tried the ones you suggested, although I will try them. I’ve asked my oxygen supplier and they say that the equipment they supply isn’t available to take abroad, only in the uk.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I’ve spoken to Baywater, they supply my home oxygen and they say their equipment isn’t able to be taken out of the uk.

Hi Steve, as HollyBoyd said Oxygenstore do holiday rentals, but I don’t think Intermedical are doing rentals at the moment there’s also the Oxygen Store oxygen-concentrators.co.uk/... be aware if you need to use oxygen when flying, you will need to have enough battery time for one and a half times your journey, so you will need enough batteries for your POC to account for this.

I hope I have been some help.

Ian.

Thanks Ian, my oxygen nurse did mention that. She said i would have to contact my GP to refer me to Wythenshaw Hospital for an altitude test 🙃 seems very complicated lol

I would ring Air Liquide. They used to supply my concentrator here in Cumbria but Baywater have now taken over. But Air Liquide are worldwide and have an office in Greece.

Let’s know if it works. I can see myself as a Greek taverna with a glass of wine.

Hi Steve4666, whenever I go on holiday i contact Dolby vivisol who supply a fantastic service for anyone who has home oxygen. I use the portable oxygen bottles they provide but it may be worth enquiring as to whether they have an alternative that would suit your needs.

Thanks for the reply Pasquino, I’ll definitely carry on looking online. The airline seems to have a strict list of the equipment allowed and they seem very hard to find 🙃

If you get in touch with your oxygen nurse she should supply you with one, or tell her you need one to get around they gave me one as I said the small oxygen bottle are to heavy to walk around with, good luck.

But don’t say you need it to go on holiday.

Oxygen nurse wouldn't supply one to travel abroad but mentioned that the spouse of one their patients was selling one, this worked out cheaper than hiring and is a useful back to liquid oxygen used at home. Also try British Lung Foundation and I think there is a section here on items for sale.

I bought my wife an Inogen At Home Oxygen Concentrator 2 years ago and (fortunately!) it hasn't been needed.

It's never been used and is in its original box. Where might be the best place to sell this item, it seems a little specialist for ebay!
