Omeprazole problems so trying Nexium

So started to get tummy pains, headache, very tired and feeling very sick, assume it's side effects as read leaflet and that can happen when taking Omeprazole long term. So have stopped have seen cons and she said to try Nexium but wait till these side effects pass which shouldn't take too long, good as have felt rubbish for few days. In meantime am using Gaviscon advance.

Thing is Nexium is Esomeprazole so I can't see that it's going to be that different, or maybe it's really not the same at all. Just sounds very similar in name.

Anyone had any positives with Nexium? Side effects at all?

I'm terrible for side effects can hardly have anything.

Hi Shancock

My husband John has been taking Nexium for the past 2 years and has had no side effects. Hope that will be the case with you.

Good I'm getting it tomorrow so fingers crossed. It confused me a bit as the name is very similar and so are some of the ingredients although obviously it would seem to be quite different. These things always seem so complicated!

Look into Apple Cider Vinegar, Shancock.

A Natural Alternative, best to be organic.

Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor, (PPI) it lowers stomach acid. (Why would you want to lower your stomach acid levels ?) PPI's also have a multiple of side effects.

We need good strong acid levels in our stomachs to break down our foods, if we lower our acid levels the foods hangs around in our gut not breaking down. It is the food that hangs around not breaking down that actually causes the acid, (that causes gastric reflux.)

PPI's also impair nutrient absorption (vitamin and mineral uptake,) which can lead to many problems and illnesses.

I agree I wouldn't use PPIs for long, im having an op after Xmas to sort it, but this is just to help while I wait.
