Am I taking too much tumeric root?

I have been taking tumeric root for two years and wondering if there could be adverse issues. I take about a 2 inch root blended with ginger root, cayenne pepper, ceylon cinnamon, cucumber, lemon with rind, almond butter, kale or other leafy greens and coconut water. It makes about 12 ounces of smoothie.

Hi

If you had no side effects in two years, you have probably become accustomed to it.

Mentioned in the following link is a daily dose of one inch?

You would probably get more information if you have a look at the Facebook Turmeric Users Group. Id be interested to know what you find out as I'm thinking of making some Golden Paste they advocate.

P, on a test they did on (I think) Trust Me Im a Doctor, they gave turmeric to people in three ways, capsules, cooking it and something else - maybe a smoothie. Anyway the only group which showed any difference was the one who were cooking with it. An Indian friend always says you need to cook it. It's good for preventing Alzheimers and Ive read almost no-one in India has that.

Right, that's it. I'm going to eat copious amounts from now on! Thanks O2.

I saw a programme too, a series on the The Truth about Food or something like that. The presenters travelled the world looking into food claims. Seem India has scientific research programmes on Turmeric & such like. All positive. 👍

If you're not turning yellow you're probably fine haz0. Seriously Ive never read of any side effects and certainly not on the amount you describe.

For best results you need to cook with it, together with black pepper and some kind of fat - I use coconut oil - in order to make it bioavailable, it's hard to absorb otherwise.
