Today I attempted to get my nebuliser ampoules ( which I have not required for some time ) I was met with a barrage of questions and "well I don`t know about if you are entitled to them" I explained that during the summer and warmer months I rely mostly on easi breathe salbutamol, but on my last enterment in hospital last year The professor in charge told me i was severe and should mow start using my nebuliser 3 times a day. STILL more questions then she said "I can't understand you" by this time I was struggling for breath, so, I said PHONE THE CONSULTANT AT HOSPITAL!!!!
She said I will leave it up to the practice GP...... I may expire before then lady..... Just give me my medication... Now sitting waiting to see if I am going to get my nebs or not....Just put me down!!!!!

Awful Tom, sorry you had to go through that. As well as phoning your consultant's secretary why dont you try phoning the surgery practice manager to complain. That treatment was totally inappropriate.
O2Trees It is a waste of time at the practice If you can`t get past the receptionist.
This girl is a little........PEST and a lot of patients have complained about them, to no avail.
But O won't drop it I'll go down with a red flag and put a full ileostomy bag on the counter. not really, that`s a bit extreme but it would say (without words) what I think of her compassionate attitude.
So sorry you are having to deal with this tomc
Don't waste your time explaining to a receptionist just get straight on to the doctor.
What a nerve some of these receptionists have.

Ask to speak to the practice manager.
I did that years ago when dealing with an awkward receptionist and as soon as I asked to speak to the practice manager they backed down and an appointment appeared mysteriously!
Thank you all for your replies, I really appreciate your responses .
A very nice lady doctor Phoned half an hour ago after a short (very short) conversation, she suddenly said "you have severe emphysema / COPD Bronchiectasis, why the hell is she getting me to Phone you?"
"Your medication will be sent out to you tomorrow and to confirm It is on repeat prescription, I am so sorry you have been upset by this and I can hear how out of breath you are over the phone"
Good news, but how awful to have to go through that first. Maybe the doctor who phoned you will do something about the receptionist now, after wasting her time.
