Hi Currasier. We have a few members here awaiting transplants, a few who have been told they are not suitable and some which have actually had a transplant. Welcome to the community.
Hi Currasier
Welcome here. So sorry to hear your news. Did the specialist advise any care plan for you? If not do request an appointment with the respiratory nurses or care team at the hospital, just so you know what course of action you need to take whenever you have an exacerbation etc.
If you are in the UK you may need to access the community matron service or community respiratory team who can visit you at home when you are poorly to check on things.
The BLF helpline is a good point of contact too if you are unsure on what services you can access.
Best wishes to you.
Thanks for the advice.I must be honest all that can be done has been done,my gp and consultant are superb but I have a large aaa so they have to ne careful.
I read that there us a cut-off point of age 65 for lung transplants - is this incorrect?
This is what's on the NHS choices site says for UK folks:
"people over 65 years of age wouldn't be considered suitable for a single or double lung transplant (although those over 65 and otherwise healthy may be considered for a single lung transplant) "
Scroll down just over half of the page here:-
