Yes I take 2000 iu Vitamin D3 at day and since starting I have hardly had and infections - just a cold and low level virus in two years. This is after double pneumonia and 4 other chest infections over one winter. I really recommend it but speak to your doctor. S/he may want to test your for deficiency - I wasn't deficient but researched and found that the RDA for D3 is considered quite low by many healers. But as I say, talk to your doc as you don't want to have any interactions or problems from taking it.

I take vit D for bones and lack of sunshine as well as C for colds and B for prostate cancer .I wonder whether they do any good or just a psychological placebo. However they can't do any harm .In the fifties there was castor oil and a very small vitamin c now it is a multi million pound industry..

I only started to take Calcichew D3. Two 500mg tabs a day. After seeing a immunologist as I was having one infection after on other for many years. She did blood tests and my vit d level was very low. And she also put me on Azithromycin for my antibody dificency. Befor that I didn't take anything.

I believe people with copd do tend to have low levels of Vit D Nottobad. Has the Vit D helped?

That's good you are doing all the right things. I excersise have been on 3 PR courses. And am doing a follow up cardio exercise at the moment. Everyone is different and at different stages I am moderate at the moment. I also have another chronic condition that I have to take iimmunesupressants for so it is a viscous circle for me. Take care x I was dx in 2006 with COPD

When you say moderate what stage is that ...lol when my practice nurse told me I had the lungs of a 78 year old ..

My reply was to ask the nurse does she want them back 😊😊 the reply went down like a lead balloon..just my humour not a frosty nickers lol xxx

Hello Angie and Happy Monday to you too!

I agree with what's been said.

It may be that Vitamin D would help, but everyone's bio-medical needs are different.

As said, check and discuss with a trusted medical advisor.

Morning Angiecbr, I was diagnosed last month. I immediately started taking vitamin D 3000. I don't like the winter to start with, and I'm sure I sufer SAD. My respiratory nurse said she'll check my levels on the next visit. The weather as not been particularly spring like, here in the UK. I normally look forward to the Spring and summer months, however after reading up a little on C O P D, and the effects of humidity, I m not so sure about it this year's summer. Any advise folks on how to deal with humidity.

I take D3 + K2 from Solaray. Started a month ago when tested and found to be Vit.D deficiency even though I live in sunny Spain! So I guess it's true what the say about COPD sufferers tending to be deficient!! I'll let you know how much it helps!!

Hi, garlic and honey are the best things to take, bugs do not like them, I haven't had the flu or a cold for over 25 years, I sometimes feel like i'm getting a cold then its gone within a hour or so , Try it good luck.

Hi. Since I started taking Vitamin D3 daily I havent had a cold or any respitory infections. Its been over 6 months now so too early to say if it is the vitamins. No evidence I am deficient in Vitamin D. Initially I was going to take the Vitamin D from September to March but Ive decided to continue all year. Only time will tell if it proves effective.
