I have developed a horrible chest infection and have coughed so much that my whole body hurts. Nothing seems to be helping. My heart is pumping hard and my BP has rocketed. Scared and alone. Have lost faith in my GP surgery so I really don't want to go back there - sorry, just needed to off load.

Rough few days :-(
Sorry to hear that you are feeling very poorly Moose. Ring the out of hours number or even an ambulance if things are that bad. Hope you improve soon. Bless you. Xxxxx
Sorry to hear you're not well. I had a chest infection which lasted about a month. Ring an ambulance if you are finding it hard, Don't let it get to bad. And there is no need to be sorry we all understand. Please let us know how you get on. Take care we are all here for youxxx
Please do NOT leave this MM - you don't say if you are taking ABs and steroids at present, but you must see someone about this, be it your GP, or a different one at your surgery, the 111 out of hours doctor, or A&E (via ambulance or otherwise).
The pain could be from a pulled muscle or possibly pleurisy, no way we can tell from what you say, but you should tell someone. Im so sorry you're having such a horrible time, please get some help for this and let us know how it goes.
Hi Ann. So sorry that things are no better. You're obviously struggling, and feeling pretty grim. Maybe you should ring 111 and get some advice and help.
I hope that you get sorted, and please keep us posted.
Take care.

If you have not been given any antibiotics and do have an infection you can NOT leave this untreated it could turn into something really nasty ...We just can NOT risk these sort of things
Remember your doctor works for you so put your health first and get on the phone tomorrow to make an appointment and do not leave his room until your satisfied with what he has done....Take someone with you for moral support
Its your right to have good medical care
Bless you, no need to be sorry, it's horrible feeling so poorly and anxious with it - you've been given good advice from others who've responded so please listen to it and get some help as soon as possible, even if it's just to ring 111. Take care xxx
Just to add to Mandy's reply......I have had chest infection after chest infection and constant back pain.
But a visit to a new GP at my surgery has at last set the ball rolling , and I have been referred to two consultants.
So please , as Mandy says go back to your doctor, and take a friend with you if you can. I know when you are feeling ill it's difficult to fight your corner, but your GP has a duty of care.
Oh dear Moose, that is awful for you. Surely your Doctor would check you over, to see if you have a bacterial infection and prescribe antibiotics, if need be, or at the very least, cough mixture. The surgery is there to help you and you should not feel reluctant to seek help. If need be, you can complain to the Practice Manager, if they won't give you an appointment. You may need to ask for a home visit, especially as your blood pressure has gone up.
2xMoose If you can take a specimen of the sputum that you are coughing up this will be very helpful. If you take it to either you GP or A&E they will be able to test it very quickly and know just what antibiotics to kill the bugs.
If your BP is over 100 you need to be seen by a doctor or ambulance medic as soon as possible. Don't be afraid of calling one out. They carry a range of stuff that can treat breathing conditions without the need to take many patients to hospital. Those guys would rather come and put you right than come too late.
Only you know how bad you are but you sound like you are unwell to me.
Nobody is going to get mad at you for ringing Moosemoose. As for having somewhere to unload your worries, your stress or to have a general rant, this is the right place to come.
Well done. Rib
You have had really good advice already so I truly don't have better to advise you but you truly should heed the warning you are getting from your bp because it isn't something to take lightly and also the meds for your infection. My MD has me stocked with emergency drugs in case I have a sudden flare up and that is because it is very serious stuff and should not be let go. I am sorry you are having such a tough time and sure hope you've received the bit of encouragement you need to take your situation up with someone tomorrow. Do not procrastinate any longer please!! I do care . Luda
Do you know how it started is it bacterial or viral? Normally with viral you've upper respiratory too in nose but if bacteria usually just one area pain along with the infection symptoms.
Why do you feel you cannot go to your doctor? I understand this iv had bad experiences in past n I have to go back again today myself after lots of failed antibiotics but iv no choice I'm not gonna get better on my own or with no meds. They have to help me.
How are you today? It's a rotten feeling.
